Liam Hendriks has Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma

I suppose I could have put this in the "Other Baseball" forum, but Liam Hendriks originally signed with the Twins out of Australia worked his way up the system, and debuted with the team in September of 2011. He didn't get much opportunity, but the 33-year-old moved to the bullpen, started throwing really hard, and has become a great closer. He's played in the past three All Star games. 

And all that doesn't seem terribly important with his announcement tonight. 

 On a personal level, I've always been a big fan of Liam's. He was a multi-time guest on some of my old podcasts from the late '00s. Always great to talk to. Very down to earth. Kind of the opposite of his mound demeanor.

Thanks Seth for bring this to our attention, my prayers are also with Liam. Also had wished that they had gone down the same road with Hendricks as they had done with Perkins. Maybe starting out as a middle reliever. He'd been a great successor to Perkins.

Terrible news. The words and phrases in his public statement, "treatment" and "full recovery" and "back on the mound" offer legitimate hope to us who are pulling for him.

Horrible news! A great pitcher, and from all accounts, a pretty good guy. Obviously, prayers and we'll wishes for he and his family.
