Doing a great job with the youngsters:

1. Hanging with Hicks. Even when the times are tough.

2.Rewarding Arcia by batting him 3rd a day after he hits a game winning HR.

Things like this HAS to motivate the other players in the Twins org who no know if they play well, they will be called up and given their shot

Gardy has his issues no doubt, but I think so far he has done a great job with this roster.

His management of the pitching staff has been quite good too, IMO; a couple of games where we could (and did) pick apart his choices, but early in the season you can make a case that he was trying to find out for sure what he's got as a staff, at the risk of that particular win or loss.

Agreed. Gardy has shown some willingness this year to stray from his comfort zone... Mauer batting second, Butera in Triple-A, etc. He deserves a lot of credit for his handling of the bullpen, which has been completely maximized so far. I like the way he's handled Hicks. I like that he hasn't overreacted to Florimon's hot streak by putting him too high in the lineup. From outside, the temperament of the team has seemed much better from the get-go. Not much to complain about.

Didn't Arcia hit that homerun TODAY, not yesterday, and he's batting 3rd tonite? :-)

Eh, details.

You forgot one.

Sticking with Dozier even after a horrible start. :)

Gardy really seems to be doing a much better job this year. No, he's not perfect, since no manager ever is. But he's making what seem like much more informed decisions as opposed to default decisions. Contract year?

Its early. Its cold outside. The Twins are hot. People are saying good things about Gardy. All is right in Twinsland.

About Hicks - Gardy doesn't have a choice but to stick with him. There are no other center fielders on the roster. Mastroianni is hurt, and do yourself a favor and don't look up Benson's numbers at Rochester. That's not a knock against Gardy, but I can't really praise him for that either.

I was a little bugged by the Tyler Robertson thing. Other than that, I can't really say a whole lot of negative things about the manager thus far.

Great question, never thought of that angle for a coach/manager. Has Gardy been holding out? Will have to punch myself in the face if he goes to New York and out-saber duels Joe Maddon.
