In 82 the Twins made a flurry of trades meant to clear space for the young kids.  They sent Wynegar and Erickson and Smalley (though I think smalley was a separate deal) to the Yankees for Larry Milbourne and possibly Filson and some others.  I remember Milbourne playing part of the season before they moved him.

So much of my memory is through baseball cards, but in this instance, Milbourne never was pictured in a Twins uniform in any card issue I have seen.  Ever tried unsuccessfully to convince someone that Reggie was an Oriole once upon a time?

Maybe I missed it but I'm surprised no one lamented the short stint of RA Dickey in a Twins uniform, just one year before someone in the Mets org taught him to refine his knuckle and become a dominant pitching force for a few years.

In the if only department. Had the Twins been able to refine him, they could have traded him for Thor.

Roy Smalley was traded for Greg Gagne and Paul Boris, who would fit in the category of short time Twin. Since the Yankees thought the trade was too lopsided they insisted on including Ron Davis. John Pacella was the other person obtained

Bernardo Brito aka "El Pupo."  Slugged 105 HR's in the Cleveland system from 1981-1987. Released and signed with the Twins. Brito hit 193 HR's while in the Twins system from 1988 thru 1995, 5 of which were at the major-league level among his 76 AB's, Released following the '95 season and spent 1 year in Japan (21 HR in 56 games).

Steve Carlton. Remember this guy! Pitched 741 games (709 as a starter) over a quarter-century of baseball. But his last 13, split over two seasons, were with the Minnesota Twins to cap his Hall of Fame career. 1-6, 8.43 ERA in 50+ innings. Left off the post-season roster in 1987 after being obtained from the...Indians. Declared a free agent but resigned by the Twins, pitching four games before jettisoned in April and ending his career on the mound.

Gave up 250 runs (215 earned) in his final 348 innings over three seasons with the Phillies, White Sox, Indians, Giants and Twins - winning 15 games and losing 29. Did put a minor dent in his career ending stats!

8 starts and just 1 win and a 8.54 ERA over two seasons with the Twins, (And it's his birthday today!)

I think he was the best pitcher ever to pitch for the Twins. But just not while he was with the Twins.
