Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted December 22, 2021 Posted December 22, 2021 Maybe I missed it but I'm surprised no one lamented the short stint of RA Dickey in a Twins uniform, just one year before someone in the Mets org taught him to refine his knuckle and become a dominant pitching force for a few years.
Tyler Omoth Twins Daily Contributor Posted December 22, 2021 Posted December 22, 2021 8 starts and just 1 win and a 8.54 ERA over two seasons with the Twins, (And it's his birthday today!)
lecroy24fan Verified Member Posted December 23, 2021 Posted December 23, 2021 How about a guy who hit a HR in his first MLB AB? Remember Andre David? I know Jack Morris does.

Rosterman Verified Member Posted December 23, 2021 Posted December 23, 2021 JOHN BARNES. 20 games in 2000-2001. Did pretty good in his dozen years in the minors, but no callup even after playing in the Red Sox, Braves, Dodgers, Pirates and Rockies organizations. https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=barnes001joh
bootsday Verified Member Posted December 23, 2021 Posted December 23, 2021 In 82 the Twins made a flurry of trades meant to clear space for the young kids. They sent Wynegar and Erickson and Smalley (though I think smalley was a separate deal) to the Yankees for Larry Milbourne and possibly Filson and some others. I remember Milbourne playing part of the season before they moved him. So much of my memory is through baseball cards, but in this instance, Milbourne never was pictured in a Twins uniform in any card issue I have seen. Ever tried unsuccessfully to convince someone that Reggie was an Oriole once upon a time?

In the if only department. Had the Twins been able to refine him, they could have traded him for Thor.

Since the Yankees thought the trade was too lopsided they insisted on including Ron Davis. John Pacella was the other person obtained

Good one. Absolutely no memory of him…
Musk21 Community Moderator Posted December 23, 2021 Posted December 23, 2021 LHP Keith Garagozzo was chosen by the Twins from the NY Yankees in the 1993 Rule 5 draft. Garagozzo appeared in 7 games for the Twins in April 1994 putting up a 9.64 ERA with 3 K's and 13 BB's before being returned to the Yankees on May 4th, 1994.
lecroy24fan Verified Member Posted December 24, 2021 Posted December 24, 2021 The rare 2 callups a few years apart player, Mark Funderburk! Called up for a cup of coffee in 1981 and then again in 1985.

Pitched 741 games (709 as a starter) over a quarter-century of baseball. But his last 13, split over two seasons, were with the Minnesota Twins to cap his Hall of Fame career. 1-6, 8.43 ERA in 50+ innings. Left off the post-season roster in 1987 after being obtained from the...Indians. Declared a free agent but resigned by the Twins, pitching four games before jettisoned in April and ending his career on the mound. Gave up 250 runs (215 earned) in his final 348 innings over three seasons with the Phillies, White Sox, Indians, Giants and Twins - winning 15 games and losing 29. Did put a minor dent in his career ending stats! On 12/22/2021 at 1:47 PM, Tyomoth said: 8 starts and just 1 win and a 8.54 ERA over two seasons with the Twins, (And it's his birthday today!) I think he was the best pitcher ever to pitch for the Twins. But just not while he was with the Twins.
Rosterman Verified Member Posted December 24, 2021 Posted December 24, 2021 BUCKY GUTH. A shortstop the Twins could use now. 3 games, 3 plate appearances. .000 batting average. Came over from Atlanta and spent four years in the Twins system. https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=guth--001cha
