Justin muses that perhaps Rogers “wasn’t comfortable” throwing his best pitch (slider) to eddie coming “right out of the bullpen”

Walking a man to get to the guy you let go, and watching him bat flip a two run single...if that doesn’t encapsulate this entire disaster of a season

This is why we should never build personal narratives about larger, more encompassing ideas without confirming what actually happened.

Eddie Rosario against the Twins before tonight:

Split G GS PA AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI SB CS BB SO BA OBP SLG OPS TB GDP HBP SH SF IBB ROE BAbip tOPS+ sOPS+
Minnesota Twins 6 6 25 25 1 7 1 0 0 2 0 0 0 5 .280 .280 .320 .600 8 0 0 0 0 0 0 .350 80 56

Ever notice how relievers come in, and give up the big hit right away.  Then blow the next three hitters away.  It's lioke this giant bulge in their pants has been released.

No one said it was the wrong move, just that it backfired, like this entire season

I've lost respect for Morneau.  He is informative, but he has transformed into the  "Ultimate Excusor"

This team isn't a tweak or two from being good. Something is fundamentally wrong, in addition to the terrible pitching outside Berrios and Pineda.

Turns out, hitting 3-5 homers a night covers up for a lot

Fair enough. I'm just responding to the plethora of people who claimed Rosario would just CRUSH the Twins for letting him go.

I’m glad he’s gone. That play at second followed by getting that big hit was his career in a nutshell. Mind numbing anger followed by euphoria

Morneau is a fantastic analyst. I've heard nothing other than he does the work, asks the questions, and has the baseball experience to put that into words.

Does he excuse mistakes? Yeah, but he was also a baseball player and baseball is *really hard*. It's a game based on failure, of course he talks about having a good process or doing a good thing but still failing. It's literally what makes baseball work.

Check out the last 30, 15 and 7 games of Rosario at the plate. He is a hot hitter for over a month and it continues...... One might consider that..... And RBI are meaningless and useless..... but some seem to perform with runners on base and get RBI, and some don't.

Opposing managers gotta laugh at us.  The strategy for the opposition is to stay close til end of game when our bullpen vomits up a run or more.  Meanwhile, they bring  in their  top bullpen guys against the Twins bottom of the barrel guys. Twins go into home run derby mode the last couple of innings, only to have that work on rare ocassions.  P;laying the Twins is like reading a book, but reading the last chapter first.

Dick made a good point. Having replay helped Cleveland win this game. It was correct to overturn the call, but that was an out for 99% of baseball history.

He has a .759 OPS over the past 14 days.

Adam Sandler GIF

His average (over .300) and OBP are both more than respectable over that time, and talk OPS all you want, a measly single just probably knocked in the winning runs. And that single won't make his OPS shine, but it can win games. Like this one.

But hey, average doesn't mean anything anymore (ha) either, eh? Just the almighty OPS. (And that .759 OPS is higher than all the Twins that played tonight except Donaldson, Cruz, and Larnach for the year). There is always something to the intangible emotion of a  slighted player stepping up against his former team, even if he is hitting like... say... Sano....

IDK, but Alcala may need more time in the minors. He’s been getting shelled pretty frequently.

Twin conversation in post game clubhouse:

Twin: "what was that guy?"  He sure is darn good."

Twin #2:  "Some guy brought up through the system.  Didn't you read the scouting report"?

Twin#1:  "Heck no,  Rocco told me to rest my eyes.  Besides I had to practice for the video game tournament, tonight".

Twins2:  (Shaking his head)  " You guys need to get your stuff together.  Show some pride. Respect the game".

Twin#1:  "Why, I get paid the same".

Either that or I’m starting to question the competence of Wes Johnson, because our pitchers can’t execute when it matters.

Tonight’s effort from the offense was the baseball equivalent of a tumbleweed blowing across the road

I’m sure you care more about a spectator sport than the people who spent their lives working to play it.

He has been so disappointing lately.

Watching him from the cf camera, I don't see a lot of movement on his fastball.  I'm afraid 100mph of a straight p;itch isn't going to be as successful as he would or should be.

Either that or look at the coaching staff. He’s been really bad, particularly when in big spots.
