Yeah, I’m tired of losing but Giolito was filthy. If the Twins play like they did the last two days, this season won’t be a total loss. Hosken Bombo Disco 1

With a Cleveland team that has trouble scoring runs, he has 21 RBI, which would be second on the Twins. He is never injured and also has 5 stolen bases. And unlike, say, Miguel Sano, he doesn't require one quarter of the season to start playing baseball. Yes, very easy to replace . . . I get what you’re saying, but Eddie is having an absolutely horrible year. OPS+ of 61 and an OPS of .580. Only getting on base at a .258 clip, and has been worth -0.2 WAR. He would still provide timely hitting at times, but he would mainly fit in with the rest of our putrid offense. I’m fine with the route they took and would much rather see AK and Larnach get a chance. Mike Sixel and Otto von Ballpark 2

I think they were dreading getting on a plane to play a double header in CA & no off day in a while. The bizarre thing about this choice, the choice to do 2 makeup games in California today....... is that they have to fly out from Minnesota, play two 7 inning (littel league) games in California, and fly back to Cleveland for Friday. Two weekends ago, they were in Detroit, had a day off the next day (as did Detroit), and instead of making up the one rained out game right where they were, and then the quick trip to Chicago the next day, they scheduled another double header later in June or July, I think. Pretty ineffecient. SoDakTwinsFan4 1

There wasn't much of a choice today. The only other option was the Thursday after the all-star game, but that would involve rescheduling dozens of different flights as the team will be spread out over the break, and then they all have to play in Detroit the day after anyway -- not much different than this week. 34 minutes ago, h2oface said: Two weekends ago, they were in Detroit, had a day off the next day (as did Detroit), and instead of making up the one rained out game right where they were, and then the quick trip to Chicago the next day, they scheduled another double header later in June or July, I think. Pretty ineffecient. Changing travel arrangements for a large group with only a few hours notice is actually pretty difficult. Much easier for the Twins to add a game with 2 months to plan for it. Also, a doubleheader in July with advance notice (and fewer/no COVID restrictions) will easily generate more revenue than a Monday afternoon game in early May scheduled with less than 24 hours notice.

A week ago, I was looking up the 2006 Twins just to see how bad their low point was in May. I was shocked to realize that the 2006 Twins were only one game better in mid-May than the 2021 edition. There are many key differences between then and now. No Johan Santana. No Fransisco Lirano. No Joe Mauer. No Pirahnas. Wow, everyone gets a mention except the 2006 AL MVP.
