As for celebrity death pools, those have been in existence for years,

You know what else has been in existence for years, the Redskins, Chief Wahoo, James Bonde movies, etc., but many (including many on this site) want them to go away.  Why? Because they are seen by those people as disrespectful.  It doesn't matter how long something has been around.  You don't get to have your cake and eat it too.

Just admit it,  the Celebrity Death Pool is fun for you.  Someone scoring points at the expense of Fatima Ali is all just a game. Shannen Doherty's breast cancer taking her life is decent bet.  I don't think it was or is a game for them respectfully.

How about this? Just keep playing your game.  However, let those who want to call out a silly roster idea call it for what is it.   Unless, of course, Wax On is somehow more deserving of respect than people like Ms. Ali and Ms. Doherty.

I haven't entered into this area of the site in some time, but this thread is definitely one to read!

First, I've had very good experiences with the moderators. As someone who has moderated boards as ridiculous as the old ESPN boards, this is a glorious difference in communication and the ability to sort out differences. While I've not always agreed with views (sometimes quite vehemently) of the moderating staff, I've always been informed of why something was removed. Many times, my perspective as an outside fan has rubbed folks the wrong way as has my complete dislike for Kent Hrbek as a person (off the field, not anything to do with his on-field play), but that's a whole other thread/article/book.

Second, on the Celebrity Death Pool...I'll gladly take up the defense of this one. Who here has not played Cards Against Humanity or a similar sort of game? Who hasn't discussed the passing of a politician or sportscaster or former local hero with less than pure reverence? In the years I've been playing, I've found myself paying significantly more attention to those lost and exposing myself to art, music, and writing of those who have been mentioned that I was unfamiliar with. My time researching for the list each winter (which starts in about 10 days) often leads me to explore the music, movies, and other artistic works of many considered "near death". I know that I've found many musicians that I now love through that thread each year. It's also inspired me to do a yearly "who we lost in baseball" article each year that typically runs about 10K-15K words with notations of players, announcers, managers, umpires, and all sorts of figures around the game that have passed on in the past year, giving one last opportunity to remember their contribution to the game I love.

We all have things like a Celebrity Death Pool in our lives. It allows us an opportunity for reflection, humor, and reverence at a time and issue that is often purely about grief and sadness. Not to make this a political post, but this is similar to what Trevor Noah and John Oliver do currently and has been done for years in similar comedic shows focused on an often-intensely-divisive topic of politics. I can respect that the CDP is not every person's cup of tea, but its purpose is not solely to make light of the topic of death or cheer in others' misery. It's to allow us to reflect on those who have left us. Otherwise, we'd all have rosters of 20-year-old celebrities in order to hit the jackpot when one passes rather than significant rosters of those over 90, who really do little for the points of the game. That we don't have rosters to "celebrate" tragedy but more to react to and respect the ending of a long life should indicate exactly what is the purpose of the thread for those who do participate.

So what do warning points do? Next time I post something pro Twins I am banned?

Good lord.  Why are you doing this?  Why can't this be done through a PM??

Why air a beef like that?

Just so we can be clear on what seems to be your main premise: Criticism does not = ANTI-TWINS AGENDA

What exactly are you searching for here?  Are we only to discuss topics related to this team that aren't going to include criticism or hopes for change?  We had a great year, but we are the sports franchise that could very well set the record for most post season losses in a row.  All things considered, things could be a whole lot worse.

Start threads if you want to further what you see as being best for this site.  However, the world doesn't exist in a vacuum and not everyone is going to agree on everything.  If that is what you are looking for then you are going be searching for a great long while.

My problem was not solely that the articles were only negative in tone but rather they were disrespectful to current players and current fans.  This is okay for Authors to do but the community has their discussion suppressed if they commented and we're being positive for the players.

Also I see many concerns of fans being attacked on here.  There was a thread discussed earlier that I was not part of where an individual was being attacked by the author.   Just recently an Author started a thread that Twins fans that are Dad's don't have a clue what they are talking about as far baseball goes and that if they liked Kyle Gibson, their opinion should be dismissed.   I was told by moderators in PM that was okay because it was satire.   The thread later delved into more satire on how millennials don't know what they're talking about and that Kyle Gibson was appreciated.   The satire from the fans was not allowed and there were warnings issued in the thread that we weren't allowed to offer satire to disagree with the author.    It is comical how bad the double standard is becoming.

I agree with you on the satire pieces. The one on Gibson seemed to be more of a mockery of a certain type of person than anything else. Not my brand of humor to be honest with you.

As far as this place being anti-Twins I cannot agree.

I don’t like the comic pieces where a fictional fan is created and made to look ignorant. What is that supposed to mean? The vibe usually seems to be fans that don’t write articles or have administrative clearance or aren’t Twins Daily posters are intellectually inferior. Not sure what’s funny there.

If you go against the Twins you tend to get banned. It is obvious that this site is now being dictated by someone working for the club which is great but also limits free speech .

Is there a poster or posters in particular you are referring to? Very few posters have been banned and those that have been banned have been removed for reasons that really have nothing to do with the Twins.

Really? This is neither true or obvious.

What's obvious is you haven't read the comment policy.

I’m sorry but this is hilarious to those of us who are actually on the inside of this site’s operations.

Twins Daily has, multiple times, declined further access to the Twins because we DON’T want to be that close to the club. We have a solid, respectful working relationship with the team, nothing more.

They're paying you well to say that, right? :)
