Game Thread: Twins vs Yankees 7/23/19 7:10 CDT

RB, I'm pretty confident that was hyperbole, and far from the worst that's ever been on a game thread. I'm pretty confident I can find worse from both of us.

If my kids were younger and reading it.

I'd have to tell them... I'm sorry but Adults can be that way some times and I'm sure that we can find much worse stuff on the internet but I'm not in the mood to debate the difference between being burned at the stake or tar and feathered.

I hope the Twins push the first domino.

They should have/could have pushed that domino in June. They have a boatload of prospects that are going to be Rule 5.

Ill assume u said 'love' the indians... im not trolling in the least.. i love baseball.  and yea, we both choked tonight... but do not say eff the indians..really???  have i ever remotely said anything like that? negative

Like I said...... too soon. And regardless of your sportsmanship, I don't care for Cleveland. And won't.

I've said it before. The Twins have the Marlins coming up, and they would likely make a bad deal to save money and deal the Twins at least 2 better pitchers than are currently on the roster.

agreed

This. Harper's career path makes him easy to root for.

Too easy.

There're LOTS of reasons he hasn't pitched in the majors until he hit the age of 30.

So true. Not a Harper fan. He is a problem, not an asset.

It still just baffles me that a guy making his major league debut gave the twins 2 scoreless innings today and the Twins most reliable pitcher gave up a 2 run homer when he had the batter before 0-2.

What team is going to sell in June?  Not very often you see big trades that early in the season.  If you wanna give up all your top prospects then sure you can get something done but overpaying like that wouldn't make sense either.

its a fine city...  They even have a song about how it rocks n stuff...Now hating CLE bc of lebron or something i get, but no conceivable reason to hate the Tribe at all....  70 years for us...u at least won a WS in your lifetime..i assume ur not born in the 90s?  but, to each their own dude lol

Talk about soul crushing defeats.

  • Blowing a 6-run lead.
  • A 1-run lead turned into a 1-run deficit in an inning that should have been over but for a blatant missed call
  • One strike away from victory - closer on the mound with 1-2 with 2 outs, and he walks him
  • Continued, historic futility with the bases loaded
  • A former Twin saves the day at the plate and in the field
  • Missed opportunity to pull another game ahead of Cleveland, who blew a late lead in Toronto

And, of course, it's against the bleepin' Yankees.  I don't know what savage pleasure the baseball gods get out of torturing the Twins against them, but I wish they would find something else to amuse themselves with.

Good night all.  May tomorrow bring a better result.

Almost certainly going to be flipping through the stations some day in January and this game will be on the YES network so I can relive it all over again.

I don’t think anyone is actually going to physically harm anyone. But not having made any moves up to this point is essentially criminal IMO

Again... Look around the league... Who else has made moves?

Name a team that has improved their bullpen... every team wants to improve their bullpen. Who else has made moves? Lots of crime around the league.

Here's the thing... You, Chief and others probably didn't like the bullpen to begin with. So every time they hang zeroes for 7 innings it's insert backhanded compliment here but when a single run is scored... it's becomes total hate directed at the front office or the guy holding the ball.

Again... I want bullpen improvement... I want mound improvement... but right now... nobody else is making moves either. The market probably isn't really established at the moment.

We're 2 lonely voices in the Twins hinterland.

But hey it was fun for the casual fan I guess so

Total conjecture. You don't know that. I don't know that. Trades can happen at anytime before July 31, and have and do.

A good FO that wants to win and fulfill their vision ESTABLISHES the market unilaterally!!!!!

I remember a quote from Earl Weaver, he said to the effect."If I have a pitcher throw a strike on a 0-2 count he'll be in the minors the next day"

So you are saying that no front office is good... or no front office wants to win?

Since no front office has established the market unilaterally.

Still too soon. Not the City. I never meant that. The baseball team. Leave it alone. Please. And I don't do dudes or lols. Try someone else.

I’m enough of a fan to not hate a guy for giving up a run, and I give credit where it’s due when it’s due. Last nights game could have ended like this too if not for a great performance by a guy making his debut. It’s easy to forget that sunday’s Win was a blown lead late, Saturday’s loss was a blown lead late, the Mets game was a blown lead late. Then tonight. That’s just on this home stand! You can’t **** away 3 games, have no impactful moves made and not expect ire. And the starters are no better! We need one of those too!

I know players are all about forgetting the past game and focusing on the next one, but how in the world do you forget about this one.

Yep. It'll be like that recurring nightmare on The Twilight Zone.

And it ends with Aaron Hicks laughing maniacally at pictures of Terry Ryan, Gardy and John Ryan Murphy.

Why were Morin and Magill DFA'd? Neither do much for me, but they're CERTAINLY better than trusting leads to Kohl Stewart, Cody Stashak, Zack Littell, and Blake Parker. I've been told they were DFA'd to "make room on the 40 man." Room for what?

Why should I care what other teams haven't done? It's not Falvine's job to run other teams, it's their job to run the Twins. "The market isn't really established?"  C'mon. That's weaksauce, IMO. Corporate doublespeak. SET the market for once. Let others try to catch up.

How many teams have a legit shot to win a pennant though? I would consider the twins one of those. They aren’t an also ran where you could make the argument against making a splashy move. We see what the offense can do. It’s our first legit shot in many years. What’s the sense in waiting for the market to dictate our moves?

Not what I hear him saying. I hear him saying what he said, with no further assumptions.

yea, im not to concerned with who you do.  whatever ur into....and the 'lol' is simply a mechanism to deescalate any further hostility from your insults...i dont troll or trash talk on a computer...in fact, i dont engage in any drama for a good 10 years now.  getting shot at and bar fighting each weekend lost its luster in my 20s..im a friendly nice guy who loves the game...  dont worry, Minny will recover..i promise, bud...

I'm saying that someone has to establish the market.

The Twins have a passel of prospects with not enough roster spots.

Establish.

The.

Market.

Already.

Keep making phone calls until someone picks up.

Maybe there are moves in the works, nobody knows. But still, a lead trimmed by 8.5 games in less than two months and lost opportunities to add to it by standing pat..not good. Damage may a,ready be done
