SwainZag Community Moderator Posted May 8, 2018 Posted May 8, 2018 I'm sure it's been covered in the 3 pages I haven't read yet, but, why is LoMo leading off?
Platoon Verified Member Posted May 8, 2018 Posted May 8, 2018 I am sure the MOY put a lot of thought into this. Should I use the blue dart, or the red dart? So I am TiVo'ing the game. Turned it on and FF through all of Dick and Tori's insightful dialogue. Finally get to someone playing baseball, but see Morrison hitting. Hmmmmmmm, must have went to far? Backed up, looked again. Then went to GT so see 'what up dog'? Then went, hmmmmmmmmm again. Or something similar.
Platoon Verified Member Posted May 8, 2018 Posted May 8, 2018 It's definitely one of the Stranger Things I've seen. I think LoMo should come up to bat leading off with one of these: Looks like Lucille!
woolywoolhouse Verified Member Posted May 8, 2018 Posted May 8, 2018 I'm sure it's been covered in the 3 pages I haven't read yet, but, why is LoMo leading off? I'm guessing just because that's where Mauer's been batting, and LoMo is playing first on Joe's day off. Like when Gardy would bat Redman 3rd when Joe would take a day off in 2006-2009.I guess it's too hard to switch multiple people instead of just swapping one out.

Platoon Verified Member Posted May 8, 2018 Posted May 8, 2018 Harper got moved to lead off because teams were back to giving him the Chicago Cubs treatment. Just kept walking him every time he came up. So Nats decide to move him to lead off to get a free baserunner every couple of innings. Rizzo comp is dead on. It will take around 30 HR's and 150 hits before Morrison gets the Cubs Treatment.

I would just hate if it came up in game where the pitcher sacrificed with 1 out and put guys in scoring position with 2 outs and your lowest average hitting up there with a couple of men on. What are the chances of that happening though?
Nine of twelve Verified Member Posted May 8, 2018 Posted May 8, 2018 "play 2nd, bat 2nd" isn't far from "play 1st, bat 1st"I think there were a few games in 2011 in which Cuddyer had a scorecard triple crown: 5,5,5--position in batting order, uniform number, position in field.
FunnyPenguin Provisional Member Posted May 8, 2018 Posted May 8, 2018 I wonder if Odorizzi could ever retire somebody with 2 or 3 pitches....

Mill1634 Verified Member Posted May 8, 2018 Posted May 8, 2018 Odo has to learn to be more efficient with his pitches.
FunnyPenguin Provisional Member Posted May 8, 2018 Posted May 8, 2018 Odo has to learn to be more efficient with his pitches. He's basically a retro Gibson, and no, that's not a compliment
Jerr Verified Member Posted May 8, 2018 Posted May 8, 2018 I'm sure it's been covered in the 3 pages I haven't read yet, but, why is LoMo leading off? From me on page 1 of this thread: Molitor on the radio said he decided on Morrison leading off to keep the L, R thing and also if, needed for a double switch in this game.

What good does one spot do you in a double switch scenario?
Mill1634 Verified Member Posted May 8, 2018 Posted May 8, 2018 Torii is easily the worst "other" color commentator in the FSN rotation. Just cut him out. Also, some of his thoughts make no sense with the way most of baseball is going. Hope he doesn't have much say in the organization.
Jerr Verified Member Posted May 8, 2018 Posted May 8, 2018 Isn't the point of a double switch usually to move the pitcher spot further down in the order? What good does one spot do you in a double switch scenario?Depends on who is in the double switch, wouldn't have to be Morrison.
wsnydes Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2018 Posted May 8, 2018 Depends on who is in the double switch, wouldn't have to be Morrison. That's true, but I interpreted your take on what Molitor said as justification of batting Morrison leadoff. Hence the question. Obviously if that wasn't what he meant then I retract the question.
Nine of twelve Verified Member Posted May 8, 2018 Posted May 8, 2018 Depends on who is in the double switch, wouldn't have to be Morrison. But since that has nothing to do with Morrison batting leadoff why did Molitor cite that as a factor?
TFRazor Verified Member Posted May 8, 2018 Posted May 8, 2018 That doesn't look anything like a guitar... Doubt it makes as good of a noise either
70charger Verified Member Posted May 8, 2018 Posted May 8, 2018 Perhaps you could ask why Mauer needs yet another day off, on the day before an off day no less. Because he made the lineup card today. Oh wait.
Mill1634 Verified Member Posted May 8, 2018 Posted May 8, 2018 ROBBIE!!!! Nice to see his swing come back into form.
70charger Verified Member Posted May 8, 2018 Posted May 8, 2018 Shows the importance of errors, I guess. I'm still pretty unenthused with Grossman, but glad he doubled in that spot.
TFRazor Verified Member Posted May 8, 2018 Posted May 8, 2018 It will take around 30 HR's and 150 hits before Morrison gets the Cubs Treatment. It'll be fun getting there though
big dog Verified Member Posted May 8, 2018 Posted May 8, 2018 This Grossman guy is killer! Where'd we get him??
Nine of twelve Verified Member Posted May 8, 2018 Posted May 8, 2018 Another automatic out with a key hit. Two unearned runs. Way to capitalize!
FunnyPenguin Provisional Member Posted May 8, 2018 Posted May 8, 2018 it's fun to be on the other side of poor defense
Blake Verified Member Posted May 8, 2018 Posted May 8, 2018 Cool! Brought up mlb gameday just in time to catch Grossman's double! Nice assist by Cards fielders, by the way.
