Aaron Cross Verified Member Posted September 2, 2017 Posted September 2, 2017 What's their timetable for return? Could be valuable additions.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted September 2, 2017 Posted September 2, 2017 I've heard nothing on Grossman but Mejia looks close.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted September 2, 2017 Posted September 2, 2017 I take that back ... not sure if Mejia is close or not, but he did have a strong rehab start the other night (according to the minor league report). It was his first rehab start, so don't know what that means, if/when he'll join the ML club and in what capacity.

And recall reading that Castro has begun some baseball activities again.

Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted September 2, 2017 Posted September 2, 2017 Yep, Santiago is on the 60-day DL.

yarnivek1972 Verified Member Posted September 2, 2017 Posted September 2, 2017 It is quite ridiculous that the Twins have a 4 man bench in September.
jimmer Verified Member Posted September 2, 2017 Posted September 2, 2017 Grossman's .360+ OBP is helpful. What's strange, though, is that Sano is going to be limited to DH. So if Grossman plays, it's in the OF, hurting the defense.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted September 2, 2017 Posted September 2, 2017 Santiago is either already at 60 days disabled or very close. If he is activated someone else will have to taken off the 40-man. The Twins have been optimistic about Meíja's chances to return. Less so for Santiago. I think to expect any of Grossman, Sano or Castro to be sharp after being disabled is wishful thinking.
Brandon Warne Verified Member Posted September 2, 2017 Posted September 2, 2017 Yep, Santiago is on the 60-day DL. For some reason LaVelle reported this as season-ending yesterday. I can confirm he's still on the same timeline.
Darius Verified Member Posted September 2, 2017 Posted September 2, 2017 This team needs Mejia so badly. He was pitching well when he went down, and that 5th rotation spot has absolutely killed them this year.
Darius Verified Member Posted September 2, 2017 Posted September 2, 2017 Strib is reporting that Grossman will take BP tomorrow and then head to Rochester for a "quick rehab assignment". Sounds like he'll be back mid-week. Agree that anything is better than Vargas right now.I'm not really so sure. Vargas is pretty terrible, granted. But has Grossman gotten a hit since June?
jimmer Verified Member Posted September 2, 2017 Posted September 2, 2017 I'm not really so sure.Vargas is pretty terrible, granted. But has Grossman gotten a hit since June?Um, yes, he's had plenty of hit since June. At least 27 of them :-) In fact his July slash was .250/.375/.325 (or a better stat line than June).

The raw numbers are 17 for 67, with 4 doubles, 2 HR, 10 BB and a HBP. I'm not saying, I'm just saying.
Twodogs Verified Member Posted September 2, 2017 Posted September 2, 2017 People see Grossman and don't expect a lot so when they get something then he is doing good. They see Vargas and expect a lot so if they don't get a lot then he doing poorly. JMO
