Why not Johan Santana in Twins HOF?

Michael Cuddyer was inducted yesterday into the Twins HOF?   Yes, he was a very good player, a great clubhouse guy and high character guy who is still working for the organization.  Still, the Twins have not yet inducted Johan Santana into their HOF.   Johan won TWO Cy Young's for our club (Cuddy was an all-star once).  He was a dominant pitcher during his time here. .  He has an outside shot at making it to Cooperstown.   IS there bad blood between Johan and the Twins???     Even if there is - IF Chuckie Knobbie can make it, surely the Twins can make the call to Johan.   That invitation is long overdue!!!!  I'm starting to think that the Twins will induct Corey Koskie and Dougie Baseball into their dubious Hall of Fame, before Johan Santana.

Give it time. A player pretty much needs to be retired and Santana keeps inkling about a return. Now, the guy that I want to see in the Hall of Fame is Al Worthington. Talk about a career and a career with the Twins, plus a good solid citizen to boot.

I think this is presumptuous. They don't induct players until they have retired and Santana had tried coming back at least as recently as 2015. That is the same year that Cuddyer retired and he also played with the Twins longer.

I think it is very likely that Santana gets inducted and won't get concerned for a few more years.

Morneau and Nathan are two good choices.

Nick Punto is in Gardenhire's Hall of Fame :)

Speaking of Gardenhire, he deserves to be in the Hall of Fame too eventually IMO.

Joe Nathan (presuming he is retired), Justin Morneau and Johan Santana are the obvious ones to go in, Terry Ryan probably as well.  Others from further back, Gary Ward and Jim Mudcat Grant pop into my mind - maybe play by play guy Ray Scott (more likely than Halsey Hall).   I suspect Jack Morris may one day get a nod simply because he pitched the greatest game in team history and is a local guy who still works with the organization. Pat Reusse certainly deserves to be considered, but probably won't because he's not a Twins employee. Rick Stelmaczek will get in based on longevity.  I'm worried about the following getting in this dubious HOF who are more questionable entrants than Cuddy: Frank Quilici, Corey Koskie, Dougie Baseball, Gene Mauch, Jeff Reardon (not long enough tenure), Latroy Hawkins, Tim Laudner and Coomdog.   However, I am convinced that one year the Twins will make the ultimate, abominable mistake and put TC Bear in this "Hall".

Yep, i didn't think Cuddyer should be in.

Do we just start putting everyone in who played here for more than a couple of years?

He basically played for the Twins for a decade. He topped 20 HR and 100 RBI exactly one time with the Twins. He exceeded 150 games one time. His average never exceeded .285, and he topped .280 only twice. He grounded into a significant number of DPs. Wasn't much of a baserunner or defender.

Cute magic tricks and the "aw-shucks," attitude go a long way in this organization, apparently.

He had 16 career WAR in 15 years (essentially a 1 WAR guy), and I'm guessing a solid chuck of that came in the national league. I didn't dig, but that tells me he may not have even been a 1 WAR average his time here.

There are better Twins' not in. Kind of a joke, IMO. Rich Becker hit .291 with 12 HRs and 70 RBI in 1996. Looks a lot like Cuddyer's typical Twins season. Is he in next?

Morneau could still be looking at a comeback. Surprised no one did give him a run this year. Nathan could still be in the mix. I'm sure he will be calling clubs in the off-season.

So, yes...who is up in 2018? At some point, people will really forget about the Tovars or Worthingtons, the remaining names of that era.

It will be interesting to see next year's list!

Al Worthington, Cesar Tovar are the only 2 to wonder about yet.

Justin Morneau, Johan Santana and Glen Perkins will get their due down the road.

Shane Mack had 5 great years here.    His OPS with the Twins is better than Puckett or Hrbek.    Good D and WS winner.   Look at his Twins stats.  They are great and his best season was the one that was shortened due to the strike and it hardly seems fair he gets punished for that.

You must mean Joe Nathan.

Perkins was a good closer for 4-5 years but he never saved 40 games or was a part of a winning team (when he was good).

I think Dan Gladden will eventually get in based on the combination of his playing and broadcasting career. I think his scrappy tough playing personality had a lot of influence on the Twins teams he played on. I thought the team had a different mentality before and after he was here.
