drock2190 Verified Member Posted June 18, 2017 Posted June 18, 2017 The Indians aren't this much better than the Twins, but it's amazing how a team that's hot and one that's not can look like men against boys. Indians are pretty good. Their relievers they throw out in blowouts would be our best reflief pitchers.
Darius Verified Member Posted June 18, 2017 Posted June 18, 2017 All of this discussion about trading prospects for pitching.....after this series it may be more realistic to start talking about selling for pitching prospects. Embarrassing pitching performances.
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted June 18, 2017 Posted June 18, 2017 Are they not that much better though? The Twins and Indians were tied going into this game, and we're in mid-June. You are what your record says you are.

I'm not seeing a great team when I look at Cleveland. I'm seeing awful pitching by the Twins. But the thought is still the same, the Indians are head and shoulders above the twins. They've clearly underachieved this year, but the talent disparity is obvious.
David HK Verified Member Posted June 18, 2017 Posted June 18, 2017 Welp-- this should render moot Dick's comment on Molly peeing his pants over having to put Busenitz into a tight game. We may well be able to see the kid shortly.

In fairness, the season isn't 2 1/2 months long. I remember a certain MN football team that looked pretty good less than halfway through the season
David HK Verified Member Posted June 18, 2017 Posted June 18, 2017 Is it just me, or did anybody else out there want Mauer to Punto-that one into 1st base?
jimbo92107 Verified Member Posted June 18, 2017 Posted June 18, 2017 Should be fun watching the new kid try to throw the ball a thousand miles per hour. Bid-ness? Booze-nits?
David HK Verified Member Posted June 18, 2017 Posted June 18, 2017 Ah, Miggy... That one was too high.

Run differential is a good indicator. And it says the Twins aren't a 1st place team. xFIP says the Twins have the one of the worst staffs in the league. Stats don't lie. And two starters that are good but have overachieved to an extent says regression is on the way.
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2017 Posted June 18, 2017 Down 3 runs, pitcher throws 4 straight balls...might as well swing first pitch and ground out to 2nd, eh Eddie?

I'm not seeing a great team when I look at Cleveland. I'm seeing awful pitching by the Twins. They're significantly better than the Twins. The offense is better than it's given credit for. Brantley, Encarnacion, and Lindor are legit elite offensive players. Outside of Sano, the Twins aren't really in that class yet. I think it's obvious that the pitching staff absolutely blows the Twins out of the water. They just called up two kids from AAA to spot start that double up 7 of the 9 starters the Twins have used this year in terms of talent. The Twins closer might only get mop up duty in their pen. They're going to pull away from the Twins like they're tied to a post.

David HK Verified Member Posted June 18, 2017 Posted June 18, 2017 Oh F me it's the Reba commercialI wonder if it's possible to change locations. I don't get those Reba ads, I get stuff like this-- at least on the mobile site anyhow... ...Or maybe that was just a Happy Memorial Day thing.
mickeymental Verified Member Posted June 18, 2017 Posted June 18, 2017 bad pitching is bad pitching. but six runs in 24 innings isn't getting it done either.

USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted June 18, 2017 Posted June 18, 2017 Did Bert call Duffy "Duffydyer"?

USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted June 18, 2017 Posted June 18, 2017 I think it safe to say Booze-nitz throws harder than anyone else on the big league staff, including Pressly.
David HK Verified Member Posted June 18, 2017 Posted June 18, 2017 Nice little tail on the strike 3 to Ramirez. Hmm.
jimbo92107 Verified Member Posted June 18, 2017 Posted June 18, 2017 So, if Busenitz tries to throw a curve, I wonder where it will land... Hey, he got one in! A little baby 84mph duck down curve! And then he got a ground out. Bingo! Good first inning, young man!! Very quick arm. Stands very straight on the mound. Mid to upper 90's heat.
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted June 18, 2017 Posted June 18, 2017 A young Catholic couple was tragically killed in a car accident on the way to their wedding. While waiting at the pearly gates, they decided to ask St Peter if they could still get married in heaven. "If you give me a couple months," St Peter said, "I think I can make that happen!" As they were passing through, the husband, in perhaps a major mess up, blurted out "And could we also get divorced, if need be?" St Peter glared at him. "NO! Look, my son. You're new here, I'll cut you some slack. But this is heaven. If you give me a couple months, I can probably scare up a priest somewhere, but I ain't even bothering to look for a lawyer."

jimbo92107 Verified Member Posted June 18, 2017 Posted June 18, 2017 One thing I already like about Busenitz is how happy he looked in the bullpen. Very positive attitude.

nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted June 18, 2017 Posted June 18, 2017 Wow, Cleveland brings in their closer in the seventh to face Buxton. Respect!
David HK Verified Member Posted June 18, 2017 Posted June 18, 2017 One thing I already like about Busenitz is how happy he looked in the bullpen. Very positive attitude. Contrast that with how Gibby looks on the mound at any time. Especially when he's just given up a bucket of runs. Which is pretty much any time.
