My comments about the "Shot Heard 'Round the World" were courtesy of my son, a sports nerd and broadcasting nerd, and thus, a sports broadcasting nerd.

 

Regarding the Miracle on Ice, from same son. Al Michaels had only ever done one hockey game before the 1980 Olympics. However, his one game of experience was one game more than anyone else at ABC had, so he got the honors.

Edit: punch/shove, whatever that was.

Sano get's beaned [looked kinda intentional, to me] and then McCann hits him with his face mask.  I can't see how MLB would penalize Sano.  Unless the PC police are in control.

I just looked at the rule book.

 

You can use your glove to tag someone anywhere. He obviously thought he had the ball and he obviously thought that Sano may score. 

 

Once you factor that in... McCann was perfectly within his rights and following the rules of baseball.  :)
