25th Anniversary of the 1991 Game 7 World Series Win

The 2016 Twins were a dumpster fire, the 1991 Twins were the exact opposite of that. Today marks the 25th anniversary of what was very likely the best game 7 in the best World Series of all time, share your thoughts below.

-I was 6 years old and my Dad took me to game 7, I still remember it vividly and to this day remains by far my favorite sporting memory of all time.

-Even now 25 years later it is still nerve racking to watch that game, so many ups and downs and so many missed chances by both teams. I'm surprised more people don't remember Lonnie Smith and his horrible base running.

Yeah, I watched it at home with my dad and brother.  I remember saying - after we turned a really neat 4-2-4 double play - that we were gonna win this game.  Everyone wore their Twins sweatshirts to school the next day.

We will obviously will never know but I wonder what strategies would have changed if Lonnie Smith would have scored.  If I remember correctly, the Twins did load the bases in the bottom of the 8th and hit into a line drive double play.

That was just an all around great game.  Both teams had chances.  One other play that doesn't get talked about as much as it should would be Gladden's double in the 10th.  That was as good of base running as it gets.

The Twins probably would have lost 1-0.  Knoblauch had done that fake-out move a few times during the regular season, but never to that much success.  Credit Chuck for that WS title.

Taking into consideration the setting, and what was at stake, I always believed Morris pitched the greatest baseball game I have witnessed. a veteran pitcher forcing his will into the game itself. By far the most intense sporting event I ever watched

What I really remember, is how all of us came together and enjoyed and talked about that whole series. Race, problems, or whatever went away and we became one.

Be it on a bus, grocery store, next door....didn't matter!!!! I miss those days and times!!!!!

I had no other Twins fans around me when the Twins won that series.  I was overseas and no one seemed to care about baseball in my Flight. I had just gotten married to my first wife, and the internet wasn't exactly hopping in discussions about baseball at the time. In fact, I didn't have a home computer and work computers were limited big time.  I'm not even sure internet was even mainstream at that time.

Nope, Internet wasn't mainstream for sure. People were just starting to hear that it could be some day. My college had a computer lab where all the computers were interconnected to each other but that did not extend beyond the campus. A friend from MIT was telling me how ALL the computers there were interconnected and that everyone had a computer of their own. My mind was full of rainbow dreams of what could be.

yeah, I believe at work we called it the Intranet for the reasons you stated.

I watched game 7 last night on Youtube.  It really was one of the greatest World Series ever.  I heard this morning on WCCO that CBS had a TV market share of 35.  Not many WS have come that close since.

Morris was a total stud that game.  Seriously....Do you think there are any pitchers today that would go out there in the 10th inning?  How many Managers would even allow it?!  Crazy good stuff.  Still love what T.K. told Jack before he went out in the 10th, "it's just a game, go get em babe." Re-watching the post game interviews last night on Youtube it looked like T.K. was on the verge of tears talking about Jack.

I wonder what Jack's pitch count was that night?  They didn't even mention it back in 91 during the broadcast.

Time for another World Series in Minnesota!  Hang in there folks.  I'm not delusional but I don't think its that far off...

126 pitches for Morris that game

Actually that's pretty decent.  I'm so used to seeing guys having 75 after 4 or 5 innings.  Thanks for the info!!

Me too. (We celebrated our 25th anniversary a month ago.) We missed the two home ALCS games because we were honeymooning in the USVI but we attended all 4 WS games. We were also both at all the home postseason games in 1987 but we didn't know each other then.

I remember game seven vividly because it was a school night (as I recall it was Sunday?) and my parents were at the game so my grandmother came over to babysit me and my sisters and tried to get us to go to bed before it was over. I protested long enough that she let us stay up. God rest her soul.  :)

Allowing you to stay up to watch your favorite team win game 7 of the WS is a big enough act of kindness to allow anyone into heaven.
