LaBombo Verified Member Posted September 22, 2016 Posted September 22, 2016 I've tried to avoid using this phrase before, but I don't know what else is left. The Twins have descended into self-parody. And that's without seeing the wildpitchout due to walking down to the mailbox.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted September 22, 2016 Posted September 22, 2016 Yup, just 1-2 players away.....
Kwak Verified Member Posted September 22, 2016 Posted September 22, 2016 Maybe Tonkin should have just chucked that 3-0 pitch to the backstop like Light?
LaBombo Verified Member Posted September 22, 2016 Posted September 22, 2016 Dick cheerfully pointing out that in addition to cementing a loss, the big inning ensures that FRod will be available to shut down the Twins tonight in the incredibly unlikely event that they're able to keep it close in the late innings.
gocgo Verified Member Posted September 22, 2016 Posted September 22, 2016 I had to step away after the first wild pitch...I came back and they were still batting. OK, anyone who thinks Tonkin is good isn't watching. I know he throws hard and there are times he looks like he belongs in the majors, but his fast ball is soooooo straight. He is very hitable when hitters sit on his fastball.
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted September 22, 2016 Posted September 22, 2016 I like how Martinez got in the throwing path between Centeno and the pitcher on that, and then slowly hustled out of the way when it was too late in a 'my bad' sort of way. As if it wasn't intentional.I noticed that too. It was very gentlemanly of Tonkin to let Maybin sprint across the plate before Tonkin resumed his sprint to the plate for the throw.
gocgo Verified Member Posted September 22, 2016 Posted September 22, 2016 If I'm Molly in the post game presser, I don't know if I can keep it together. How do you look Pat Light and Michael Tonkin in the eye and not have your head explode?
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted September 22, 2016 Posted September 22, 2016 I am missing an exciting game, it would seem...

Gotta figure the 5 second delay has come in rather useful this year.
LaBombo Verified Member Posted September 22, 2016 Posted September 22, 2016 The "crowd" shots were appalling. There's no other word for it. You see more people in the stands in the 1 am. ESPN 6 rebroadcast of Tulsa St. at Maine Maritime Academy.

ESPN 6 rebroadcast of Tulsa St. at Maine Maritime Academy.Well, it's an unscheduled day game. People working, people at school. Pat Dean was starting. I probably wouldn't have come back for today's game either. The ones who didn't come back today were spared the embarrassment of the 9th inning. At this point, I don't know why anyone would bother showing up anymore, to be quite honest. And it hurts to say that.
wavedog Verified Member Posted September 22, 2016 Posted September 22, 2016 OK, it was 3-2 going to the top of the 9th and I had to get on a conference call for work - I come back and it is 9-2 ballgame. This team is unbelievably horrid and unwatchable. Can't execute basic plays - don't they have some pride?

wavedog Verified Member Posted September 22, 2016 Posted September 22, 2016 Instead of "let's play two" for us it's "let's lose two" - any chance of rain tonight?
LaBombo Verified Member Posted September 22, 2016 Posted September 22, 2016 Instead of "let's play two" for us it's "let's lose two" - any chance of rain tonight? 30%, or about half the probability of the Twins getting blown out if it's played. Conversely, the chance of rain is 90% if Dozier homers or the Twins take a lead before it goes into the books. Edit: I see the Twins have pre-jinxed tonight's contest by declaring it "Dozier Goes Deep" night, apparently because 'Brian Dozier Voodoo Doll' night, while functionally equivalent in terms of preventing a home run, would have been a PR nightmare.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted September 22, 2016 Posted September 22, 2016 3 and a half".5 and quarter".8" even. Get with the pogrom.Doh. What i said to mean was 3 and half floppies aren't floppy. Guess i was a little short. In so many ways... Sorry about that. Memories... Whatcha gonna do? Anyhowsers, there is another game coming up soon, right?
LaBombo Verified Member Posted September 22, 2016 Posted September 22, 2016 Hey, less than two hours until game time! Twins baseball, your "Please, sir, may I have another" leader...
GCTF Verified Member Posted September 22, 2016 Posted September 22, 2016 Go Mariners!I'll kill myself if Tulsa St. wins!
