Essential viewing and an excellent interview

Topics include: Polanco, Trevor May, next season's rotation, August trades, waivers, the interim GM role, the search for a permanent GM, Antony's continued conversations with Ryan, Sano's work ethic/possible demotion, and Buxton.

I have to say in summary that although I'm not a fan of Antony being the permanent GM, I do think he said all the right things and I have zero doubt after watching this that he is doing everything he possibly can to improve the club in the short, medium and long run. He clearly cares about the team first, even more than his own job, and I really appreciate that from him, along with his forthrightness in this interview.

Good interview.

I liked the majority of his answers.

However, I have a beef with one of them.

He claims that May was given a fair chance to compete for the rotation this spring.

I'd really like to know what the parameters were for that competition because I seem to remember that May pitched better than any of the other competitors during ST.

I agree. That was maybe the one answer that wasn't really fair or satisfactory.

Thanks for posting that.

I wouldn't have found it otherwise.

Much Appreciated.

I hope Antony keeps communicating with us. I think it's important because I assume that P.R. could use a little polish. I know that sometimes my frustrations and concerns can be rooted in lack of information.

Two irrelevant observations: he resembles Terry Ryan to a surprising degree. And, has he lost some weight since whenever this photo was taken?

Jack Goins spent a ton of time and energy with us on another thread, and that really goes a long way.

Up until that interview, I wasn't totally sold on Antony but he sure has changed my opinion of him. That was a great interview. Very candid, seemed confidant a August trade could happen, liked his response on Sano and Buxton. Has May in mix for 2017 rotation spot. Surprised he wasn't asked about the trades. Really different from a Ryan interview where Terry can talk for 1/2 hour and not say anything Could also be a minor slip but didn't bring up Santago for 2017 rotation but did mention Mejia. Probably means nothing.

Which thread was that? I missed it if jack was on here again. I enjoy reading his pays, but wish we could go out for beers sometime and get the off the record conversations.

Which is interesting because the Twins are much more willing to talk than most teams. Terry Ryan was great. Rob is great. Rob was in the PR group many years ago, so he gets it.

Obviously there are some things that they shouldn't discuss, and I fully get that.

It does surprise me how honest the Twins are. You'd expect cliched answers about Sano and Buxton. Not from these guys. They tell you exactly what is going on.

I may have to rethink some of my Alex Meyer conspiracy theories. ;)

Good catch on Santiago. If anything, the fact that he wasn't top of mind hints at an awareness that Santiage is at best a #5 starter on any team even sniffing at a wild card spot.
