HitInAPinch Verified Member Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 Twins could really use seeing something good from May today.
jimmer Verified Member Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 In 1900 our good friend Charlie Hickman committed 86 errors at 3B ...and ... his dWAR was .... -1.0. (Doesn't give me a lot of faith in the definition of dWAR!)Seriously? People were charged a bunch of errors in that day. And the overall dWAR puts a positional adjustment in there. That's why youll notice almost every 1B has a negative dWAR nowadays. Plus, I think it's probably easier to judge defense for players they had film on for every game :-)
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 The fact that this is actually an understandable statement and not fueled by really late age dementia makes me a little sad.Could be both.
jimmer Verified Member Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 Were the announcers saying Paul thinks Sano makes up for his defense with his stick?
h2oface Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 Regardless of his learning curve, the flashes Sano shows indicates his ability. Now it is focus. Like it matters right now anyway. This is a perfect time to hang in there with him. Milone still is responsible for serving up that Jack, unearned runs or not. It is still his job to not serve the meatball. This also helps get Milone out of the rotation and on the way to his success story in Korea.
jimmer Verified Member Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 Sano's defense at 3B is making Brauns rookie year at 3B look good.
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 Been saying it for a long time. DH is where he should be. He'll hurt us too much anywhere else.well yeah, Sano to DH. Given the rest of the roster, then what?
jimmer Verified Member Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 well yeah, Sano to DH. Given the rest of the roster, then what?Bring Polanco up. DFA Santana
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 As we wait out another replay, we can discuss ways to speed up the game...

USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 Stay with the tag, Dozier. Jeez.

Blake Verified Member Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 I prefer Sano in right field. Seriously.I prefer Kepler, but, I understand the sentiment.
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 Sano's defense at 3B is making Brauns rookie year at 3B look good.Yeah, it's brutal... But lots of infielders are brutal when they're introduced to the league. Everything is harder hit, guys are faster, smarter... It's a tough gig. Trevor Plouffe was once a terrible third baseman. If the Twins were in this thing, I'd be screaming for Sano to go back to DH and rotate Nunez to third... But it's a lost season. Give Sano another 65 games at third and revaluate in November. It's likely he won't stick at the position but he can't improve defensively if he's the DH.
HitInAPinch Verified Member Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 don't think Holt actually hit the bag

Sano at 3B is a kind of bad one rarely sees at the major league level and he played there almost his whole minor league career. Pop ups, throwing errors, errors between his legs. Brutal on everything but soft hit balls he comes in on.
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 Kennys Vargas now has as many doubles as Mauer does (9). Vargas has had just 55 PAs compared to Mauer's 396 PAs. Wow.
HitInAPinch Verified Member Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 Sano: I understand the sentiment for him playing 3rd. However, how many times have we seen him flub simple infield popups? Including the one that bonked him on the head.how many times have we seen, because of poor footwork, Sano had to use his strong arm to just barely throw out runners today.15 HR's 12 ER'sIDK. I'd hate to see a young guy end up as a DH.

HitInAPinch Verified Member Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 Oh man, Nunez.. Talk about a 'free swinger'
jimmer Verified Member Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 enjoy the rest of the game, need to run some errands. GO TWINS!!!!!!
HitInAPinch Verified Member Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 Umm, what did Dick just say about Porcello???Sounded like he said Porcello can't win the game because they're down 3...
h2oface Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 Buxton practicing leading off. Why practice stealing when you can just get a big lead?
HitInAPinch Verified Member Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 Buxton already standing on 2nd when Bogaerts got the ball
