Tie it up Sano!

It's Texas, dog.    You're gonna have to be more specific next time.

Oh!  Just in time to see the Plouffe-fest----  Thanks again, Molly, for that scintillating lineup card!

Agree. Maybe it's time to move Byung Ho Park to the clean up spot for a while.

If he hits behind Mauer maybe he could get a HR with a runner on

According to Greek Mythology... They set off in search of the Golden Fleece. I don't remember what happened after that.

That's what we need, some Harryhausen style

If a dinger makes a divot...

Is that a tater crater?

Not sure if taters make craters.

We might find out in another 20 minutes, when George Springer's 4th inning home run finally makes impact with earth. It's now passing over Lubbock airspace but flight controllers have confirmed it is in descent now.

Without three catchers on the roster,   Molitor doesn't feel safe DH'ing Suzuki,   so there's always room for improvement.

Why, he had one bad year, that was actually not quite as bad if you account for BABIP. He's the only pitcher in the system with Ace potential and his stuff is amazing when its on (see that 2nd inning). He's been pitching great this year. He obviously lost his cool after giving up that quasi HR, but he's not going to improve his mental game if you don't make him work through it. To pull him after 2.2 innings is absurd and ridiculous, and makes me doubt Molitor as a coach, who I've always defended before. What does this teach Meyer? If you make a mistake, the coach will pull you, so you can't make a mistake. That's a recipe for nerves, anxiety, and self-doubt. Say what you will about Gardy's strategic acumen, but at least he understood how player development works, and that it isn't through tearing down your players' confidence.

I don't buy that his stats weren't that bad because of BABIP.  I think his BABIP was bad because guys are just teeing off on him.  He can't get ahead enough to make his above average breaking stuff even remotely tempting to offer at, and his fastball seems to have lost a lot of velocity.  This is why I suggested he move back to the rotation earlier this year.  Let him work on hitting spots at 80-90% effort.  94 with lateral run is not going to be effective in the bigs unless you can hit spots.  Not just throw strikes.  Not many scouts had Meyer as a true ace even when he was throwing 100.  More like a solid 2. Most thought that his lack of innings in the minors translated to future stopper in the pen to good middle rotation guy if he found control.

You can spin his stats and lack of MLB and even Minor League success all you want, but little he's done so far in his career suggest anything near ace potential at the big league level.  No amount of "working through it" is going to fix lack of repeatable delivery, inconsistent arm angles, inconsistent release, and loss of 4-5 mph on your bread and butter (presumably loss of spin and velo on the slider as well).  I saw him work in a few get me over curves today, and that could help him be an MLB pitcher. But people need to get over the ace thing.  I think his best chance of success isn't re-finding 99, it's finding that 91 on the corner works just as well.

Uh ... they took a space shuttle to Mercury?

ok that was bad

It's an answer, which is good enough for me.

And the obvious is always a good starting point.

And if anything can survive the searing heat of that innermost planet of the solar system, it's a joke.

And... is a conjunction, as i know from School House Rock.

I just caught up from watching on delay. I really wish I was on when Milone started warming up in the third. Meyer cruises through 2 with 4 k's. Two baserunners later....

This team is bad, mmmkay?!

Does that mean we are still on top of the AL Waiver wire?

And i wouldn't say they're bad. Just tonight at least, another was better? At least at the various points of the game where it was at issue.

I should have kept Crappie fishing tonight instead of coming back in to watch the game.

Yes.   Crappie fishing  >>>   crappy baseball watching.
