Dozier Lone Twins Gold Glove Candidate

Rawlings announced the the Gold Glove nominees for each position from each league. The award is voted on by managers and coaching staffs from each league. They are not able to vote for their own players, and they only vote within their own league.

Brian Dozier is the only Twins player to be among the Top 3 at his position.

In my opinion, Kyle Gibson could be considered, though just three pitchers from each league, out of a ton, are nominated.

What are your thoughts?

Dozier and Plouffe are the only Twins who comes close to deserving a gold glove nomination (and neither deserve the award), so I'm fine with it.

I don't think Rosario played enough to merit significant support for a Gold Glove. I am surprised Dozier will be considered, but I have to say it's an honor. Good for him.

with all of the assists Rosario had it woulda been cool but he probably deserve a nomination. Don't think dozier did either though.

I find it interesting that Wilson Ramos is in the running for the AL catcher gold glove.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought Mauer was pretty good at 1st base

Mauer is not a very good 1st baseman. He isn't a stiff, but he doesn't add any defensive (or any other kind) value.

Based on most defensive metrics, DRS and UZR (which are cumulative so players with less than a full season's experience are compared to those with full season's experience), there was a single Twins' player on top 3 of their positions:  This is Eddie Rosario at L, second to Cespedes in both.

Only one who deserved it.  But he is a rookie with less than a season experience, so managers and coaches...

Eye test?  Up to the beholder.

Worst award in baseball, in terms of deserving candidates winning it?

It's gotten much better since the voting changed.
