formerly33 Verified Member Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 After a nice win to usher us into the second game of the double header, the Twins are now officially over .500 this season and half a game closer to the playoffs. Veteran players came through strong today ... Mauer had his greatest antagonists crying "Mauer Power!" as he stepped to and from the plate, and random Twins fans were heard shouting "MVP!" all the way from NY when T-Nutts doubled to drive in 3 runs in the 4th. The youngsters weren't bad either ... the Buck had an RBI single in the 7th and then a solo shot to lead off the 9th. Both times I had just tuned in to see what was up without knowing who was batting. Methinks this should become a habit. Kyle Gibson was strong for 6 innings, and that at least is better than I expected. I just wish he had gone 1-2 more innings so Dave would never complain about him again, but it's okay. Really. http://m.twins.mlb.com/assets/images/3/8/6/150119386/cuts/mauer1280_09vilqma_3v304sqy.jpg As if that wasn't something to think about already, let's make it official: 1. Think about the playoffs – we’ve all been saying this, but I’ll say it again: We’ve got a chance. Do I think we’ll make it? No. However, I will admit that the closer we come to the end of the season, the higher our chances seem. That feels like screwed thinking after having followed the Twins for 4 consecutive 90+ loss seasons, but I guess the reason is that with each win we clinch a lower draft pick. 2. Think about negative positivity – that was an excellent example of it. 3. Think about teams clinching the playoffs off of us – I’m pretty sure it’s happened every year I’ve followed the Twins, yet this year the only team left that can do it is us. Game 163 doesn’t count. 4. Think about Mike Pelfrey – if I had been asked at the beginning of this season how I thought Pelf’s stats as a starter would be, I very well might have said 6-10 with a 4.90 ERA. Pelf, you were a big surprise this year, yet you’ve been no surprise. I like surprises. Please surprise me today. 5. Think about forks – in all honesty, I’ve been trained in quite well. The other day my brothers were threatening my life over the supper table (don’t ask the reason – it's highly classified), and as they all dove in unison for the knives, I calmly gathered a handful of forks and met them head on. Rest assured that they backed off pretty quickly. The Indians will be coming at us with knives tonight, but the question is, will Molitor go for the forks? I hope so. Weather: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 51. Northeast wind 11 to 15 mph. Lineups: TWINS (82-75):1. Dozier, 2B2. Mauer, 1B3. Sano, DH4. Plouffe, 3B5. Rosario, LF6. Hunter, RF7. Hicks, CF8. Hermann, C9. Escobar, SS Mike Pelfrey (6-10, 4.09 ERA) INDIANS (77-79):1. Kipnis, DH2. Ramirez, 2B3. Lindor, SS4. Santana, 1B5. Chisenhall, RF6. Johnson, 3B7. Almonte, CF8. Moore, C9. Martinez, LF Cody Anderson (6-3, 3.31 ERA)

nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 Hunter gave a pretty sour look as May walked past him during that interview. Did May do something to Hunter that would have had HR talking to us at our everyday jobs?
Jerr Verified Member Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 Hope Riverbrian, got enough votes on his dinner, as 4 bags of precooked frozen food can get one chilly. Win Twins!!

Brian has changed since he has left the great plains. It was not that long ago when he was satisfied with a Hungry Man chicken dinner with really brightly colored vegetables. Now he is eating the frozen dinners that big city folks eat. What is next - drinking beer from a glass?
ashbury Verified Member Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 I'm ok with ballot box stuffingThe trouble is that none of the packages sound fit to eat. The Scampi done in a restaurant would be good - but this package probably contains hydrolyzed corn oil in place of the butter, and some factory worker who had Italian for lunch blows garlic breath across each batch as it goes by.

If you ruin my perfectly good chicken dinnah ... not frozen or from a can ... you will have officially jinxed everything.

Fair?
