sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted September 19, 2015 Posted September 19, 2015 Game Thread Twins vs Angels 09/18/2015 @7:10pm 09/19/2015 @12:10pmThe case of the missing game thread...Facts of the case:1. When i went to bed, there was a game thread. I wake up this morning, and low and behold, it's not there!2. I called out the usual suspects:Mike Pelfrey said he was going to pitch, but got pushed back to the evening game. Did he want extra rest?Kyle Gibson got promoted to pitch 7 hours earlier. Maybe he didn't want to wait?Torii Hunter needs his beauty rest?Mauer wanted to be with the twins, but which ones?Too many Eddies for Everyday?Terry Ryan is behind everything...Keyser Söze hadn't been spotted recently. Just biding his time?Going through the rest of the line up, can you help spot any holes in their alibies? I got my doubts...3. I called out the unusual suspects:These were some real Angels... Yeah, right.Mike Trout seems to be good at baseball. But could he do it in the rain? Or on a train? Or with a goat?Andrew Heaney was going to pitch... is pitching... but will he pitch? well? seems suspicious, no? no. I guess not.The Aybar of justice?Mr. Freese sounds a lot like a batman villain...Taylor Featherston, i presume?I just can't figure 'em out... But if not one of the Twins camp, then it must be...4. This was proving to be a real poser. A puzzle. A brainteaser. A head scratcher. I wasn't used to these. I don't like no one but me to scratch my head. I was all for knee slappers and milk snorters. That sort of thing. But this had me confused, bamboozled, flustered, flabbergasted. So much so, i had to hunt down a thesaurus... Most people think they're extinct, knocked off, kaput, dead, but they aren't. Not if you know where to look. It's not a lost world to everyone...5. It couldn't be anyone who likes baseball, could it? So anyone who could hold a ball of any size would want to enjoy watching a game? nobody, not even the rain, has such small hands. So ya'll, pay attention. Be alert. Watch. Note everyone's cummings (eesy eh) and goings (a littler harder)...Oh, the scene of the crime:Weather: Today - Sunny, with a high near 70. West southwest wind 5 to 10 mph.For starters:Angels: Andrew Heaney {L}Twins: Kyle Gibson {R}Line ups:Twins:1. Aaron Hicks {S} CF2. Brian Dozier {R} 2B3. Joe Mauer {L} 1B4. Miguel Sano {R} DH5. Craig Arko Old-Timey Member Posted September 19, 2015 Posted September 19, 2015 Absolutely gorgeous looking day out. I expect Gibson is pitching the first game because they expect him to go deep into it and keep the 'pen ready for game 2. Solves the mystery of what to watch at the pubs.

I bet folk is watchin' the Gophers. Can't complain, 'cause i'm keepin' an eye on 'em too. Other distractions will include well, all other football games, and the two minor league play off games what the Twins' affiliates be hostin'... Just too much to do.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted September 19, 2015 Author Posted September 19, 2015 What was the promotional? "Snapper mow 'em down inning?" Is that still a thing? Meanwhile, back on the football field, Gophers in a pitching duel, leading 3-0, but threatening with a minute to go in the half...
stringer bell Verified Member Posted September 19, 2015 Posted September 19, 2015 Gibson misses bats in the first.
ScrapTheNickname Provisional Member Posted September 19, 2015 Posted September 19, 2015 Game not on TV?
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted September 19, 2015 Author Posted September 19, 2015 Game not on TV? TV's kinda small to play a game on... CBU says 0-0 after the first inning. And Gophers got that there touchdown, to go into the locker room at half time with a 10-0 lead. And alas, lawns don't mow themselves... (Nor do other chores... I might be distracted for a while... Oh, why should i do spring cleaning when it isn't even spring.)

I've been watching the games all year that have been played inside my computer, so there. (Alas, this one is not on my computer - I use an illicit website - so I am forced to actually do something useful as well. Have no lawn though.)
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted September 19, 2015 Posted September 19, 2015 Haven't paid much attention to the Twins today... down at a tailgate for UT football on a gorgeous day. The gophers game however, jesus.

ashbury Verified Member Posted September 19, 2015 Posted September 19, 2015 Who is going to solve this mystery?Looks like a case for the Gardy Boys!
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted September 19, 2015 Author Posted September 19, 2015 Let's get some runs! One doesn't seem good enough at this point. (But i can't complain about a Rosario triple, nor that Suzuki got him in.)

notoriousgod71 Verified Member Posted September 19, 2015 Posted September 19, 2015 Perkins is able to face heart of the order right handed hitters in the ninth inning but not in the seventh.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted September 19, 2015 Author Posted September 19, 2015 Perkins is able to face heart of the order right handed hitters in the ninth inning but not in the seventh. He's been mostly dead all day...
ashbury Verified Member Posted September 19, 2015 Posted September 19, 2015 Perkins is able to face heart of the order right handed hitters in the ninth inning but not in the seventh. Not Trout, apparently.

sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted September 19, 2015 Author Posted September 19, 2015 Not Trout, apparently.Fien hooked him. Okay, 2 run deficit. We can get this! But as DaveW saith...Let's get some runs! (3-1 halfway through the 7th, a U for those CBs)
ashbury Verified Member Posted September 19, 2015 Posted September 19, 2015 Cognitive dissonance for the Mauer-haters: he swings at the first pitch, but still ends up with a walk.
ashbury Verified Member Posted September 19, 2015 Posted September 19, 2015 Possible season-saving HR for SANO!!!!
PseudoSABR Verified Member Posted September 19, 2015 Posted September 19, 2015 Mauer's run shouldn't count as much because he didn't train hard enough to earn it.
ashbury Verified Member Posted September 19, 2015 Posted September 19, 2015 That uppercut swing seems so exploitable, but man is it fun to watch.
mickeymental Verified Member Posted September 19, 2015 Posted September 19, 2015 if molitor and ryan should be fired, should hinch and the astros brass be on death row?
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted September 19, 2015 Author Posted September 19, 2015 Inning ain't over... Plouffe and Hunter at the corners. Whatcha gonna do this time, Rosario?
ashbury Verified Member Posted September 19, 2015 Posted September 19, 2015 Good squeeze, wrong runner.
DaveW Old-Timey Member Posted September 19, 2015 Posted September 19, 2015 What a god awful call on a squeeze play.
ashbury Verified Member Posted September 19, 2015 Posted September 19, 2015 if molitor and ryan should be fired, should hinch and the astros brass be on death row?I say we stomp them. Then we tattoo them. Then we hang them. And THEN we kill them. http://s3.vidimg.popscreen.com/large/28/RTg4SEV1d0lubm8x_l.jpg
