Maybe I am not looking hard enough, but it doesn't seem anyone has held the FO or Molier's feet to the fire over Pelfrey still being in the rotation. Have they addressed this anywhere, and I just missed it? I can just imagine if they were asked about Pelf tonight, that is would sound something like......

The MN press corps is pathetically weak. When have they ever pressed Ryan?

Why do every else's relief pitchers from AAA come in and dominate?

The serious answer is that other teams recall guys with good stuff. I think an underreported story is the struggles of their hard-throwing minor league relievers. Many of us figured Burdi, Reed and Jones could be with the Twins or close. Tonkin throws hard but hasn't been able to hold a job in the Twins' suspect bullpen.

Ya, according to most here, that is somehow not any fault of the coaches or scouts. All the players fault.

So is anyone else still even watching this game?

I am. I usually bail on the game thread when it gets whiney.

Yes, but I'm switching to gameday on the kindle.  Could be a long 3 innings!

Pelf was never on the hook.

you talking about the accountability/based on performance hook?  If so, I agree.

A far as the game stats go, he was on the hook for the loss.

As a starter, you need 5 complete innings to qualify for a win .  When it comes to getting the loss, you don't even have to get an out before coming out the game and you can still qualify for the loss.

Pelfrey exited the game with a one run lead, I believe, and one runner on base. The go ahead run that scored was charged to the reliever, so no, Pelfrey would not have been charged with the loss.

I think.

I guess I am willing to give up on Dozier leading off. The team needs his home run power lower in the lineup, but more so his OBP is down this year while the strikeouts continue. He had hit a number of multi-run homers, but has only hit solos since the All-Star break.

I think you are right, now that I look at the box score again. Thanks for the correction.  Appreciate it

I am ready to see Hicks lead off and Dozier bat second. Escobar makes a good 9 hitter. That should give RBI chances to Dozier when he comes around again.

I sit corrected. Because Pelfrey came out before completing 5 innings, he could not have qualified for a win even if the Twins held the lead for the entire game. But when it comes to qualifying as the losing pitcher it doesn't matter when Pelfrey came out. The loss goes to the pitcher who gives up the run that gives the other team a lead which is held until the end of the game. Achter was on the hook for the loss.
