Buxton's done. Stick a fork in him.

Just once it would be cool if they called up a guy and he was good. Right away, and the next year too.

To be fair, he has only played nine games. If he starts playing well now, in two months we'll look back and say Buxton was good right away.

I have no idea what this post means.......even if we actually thought a thread like this had any effect, I have no idea what this post means.

Thru seven games against mostly really good pitchers, at a time when the Twins scored 10 runs in six of the seven games we heard "Buxton is not ready offensively, he is hurting the team, etc."

I would just suggest the sample size was a little small to reach those conclusions.

I guess Buxton felt too much pressure being in the 9 hole - especially with a pitcher hitting in front of him for a few games.  Look what happened when they put him in the lead-off spot!  Youzers!

You realize you were responding to a post about Suzuki, right?

And that said post was about the efficacy of a thread like this changing outcomes of baseball players.....

I grabbed the wrong post to reply to.  For clarity, Buxton was the one with the two outfield assists that went 3 for 5.   Not Suzuki.

I'm not sure people understand this is a joke thread.....

The title was a joke as was the initial post and some thereafter.  But do you think all the comments regarding Buxton being not ready were a joke?  I don't.

I'm not sure everybody shares my sense of humor. Which sometimes makes me very happy for the future of humanity.

Sure seems like Buxton is taking a lot of pitches. Especially the first strikes. I wonder if that is the plan. The best vantage point for seeing the spin of a big league breaking ball is from the batter's box, and you probably get a better look if you're not swinging at it. In time he'll be able to identify it the moment it leaves the pitchers hand. I still have hope for him. :)

I hope it is, that's smart.  BTW, he's seeing just under 4 pitcher per PA.

Yep, he should be erring on the side of caution this early in his career. The more pitches he sees, the more quickly he gets a feel for the capabilities of MLB pitching.

It's easy to learn to swing at pitches. It's a lot harder to learn to not swing at pitches.

Unless you're Aaron Hicks. Gratuitous cheap shot.

Danks should be just what the doctor ordered for Buxton, I expect a 3 for 5 effort, 1 HR, 1 2B, 2 SB

3 for 5 with a double. Not bad.

I agree with Thrylos Byron Buxton isn't ready for the major leagues right now offensively, he shows it ever time he stares at a curveball or breaking ball in the strike zone right now. Fastballs are wizzing by the Kid that are hittable too. He is being overly paitent(lacks agressiveness due to thinking a lot about what he is seeing instead of just letting his instincts take over) at the plate and letting a lot of 1st and 2nd pitches go by that he is capable of hitting. The dude needs more experience and to learn how to hit breaking balls more.
Even when Buxton was lighting up AA pitching he was seeing a lot of fastballs in hitters counts situations. I would try to get by with Rosario in centerfield and Robinson as a platoon until Hicks is ready to come back off the DL. Sometimes there is not success without a large degree of failure. Buxton has above average speed and a plus arm, and when he connects the ball rockets off his bat so there are obvious above average tools right now, what he needs is more seasoning at AA, possibly a stint in AAA even to learn to hit the junk. Right now he is just as much a giveaway out as Hicks was his first go around from AA. I see a lot of things I like about Buxton and see the kid has obvious talent, his lack of experience is hurting the guy right now.

The questions in my opinion is. Do you like your crow grilled or fried? I believe that Buck will figure it out and last night was the beginning of that.

What crow should I eat, I still think he is playing above his experience level because of obvious need, out of necessity not because he is ready for MLB. A lot of what I said against good pitchers was happening until he faced a lousy pitcher John Danks last night. Why should I eat crow, so far he has looked a lot like early 2012 Aaron Hicks at the plate and has had the same kind of struggles or comparables. Not saying the talent levels are the same just that the hitting comparables for jumps from both guys to AA has been tempered with difficulty.

The major difference is the manager has eased him in to a role instead of sticking him in the leadoff spot and proving a point to the GM that Hicks wasn't ready for this level in 2012.

"I see a lot of things I like about Buxton, and see the kid has obvious talent, his lack of experience is hurting the guy right now." To me you have two ways to go stick with him and let him learn on the job and live with the mistakes and inexperience, or send him back down for a short stint, 3 to 4 weeks, refine the swing a littl  and then get him back for the long haul. Hicks is by no means a bust he is a guy that lacks experience right now. You can't teach this kids speed and not enough can say about the put out he had at the plate last night. In my opinion that throw out of Melky Cabrera at the plate turned that game around last night for the good guys.

It is too early to say he has been over his head or that anyone should eat crow.

My personal opinion is the next time he is in the minors it will be years from now on a rehab assignment. But that is simply an opinion at this point.
