Just sitting at work... Doing a ton of repetitive data entry. Listening to the game... Trying to imagine the plays in my head from the description which causes a lack of focus and entry of wrong data and having to back and fix the errors and a ton of ton data entry left to go.

Baseball Rules!!!

Don't feel bad, Plouffe had an error today also.

If only Riverbrian could go back and fix that error...

Yet another way the two activities are different.

I'll second that baseball rules.

Rosario's up again with RISP... What will happen?

Hopefully like Trevor, Brian is working with his coaches to cut down on his errors. Brian's typing coach was quoted by Sid as saying Brian is very coachable and is one of the hardest workers he has ever had the privilege to be associated with. His coach went on to say that Brian has all the physical talent in the world, and all he needs is more experience. The orginisation holds out hope that he will be able to move up to Fargo soon. For his part, Brian says he will continue to work diligently, until he can consistently hit the keyboard with all ten fingers! :)

Well done!

Riverbrian, how are you adjusting to the new rules that you're not allowed to step away from the keyboard to adjust your typing gloves between keystrokes?

Meanwhile, back on the field...

Are folk playing the whole game? Doesn't seem to have been a wave of subs. Only a swapping of first and third.

This has been a difference between Molitor and Gardenhire.  Molitor keeps players he wants to see and evaluate for the the full game.  In the Gardy years it was 2-3 PAs for the starters and then the kids came in no matter what.

I wasn't aware of those new rules... I'm stepping away so much from the data entry I need to do that I should be able to conclude this project sometime in 2017.

Sid also said that Brian was "a close personal friend." So he's got that going for him.

I think i'm okay with that. Presumably that means they took fewer players on the road, and the others got some valuable work done back in the Fort.

My bad. There probably isn't such a rule, so long as the employer is okay with it.

I'm just conflating baseball with whatever else might be going on. It happens every spring time...

It all depends if my employer wants me to remain sane.

If I don't step away from the data entry... my eye balls start to bleed and my brain turns into a squirrel.

What a second... "Remain" Sane

What am I saying... That shipped sailed a long time ago. It's already rounding Patagonia.

Nice to see the Game Thread posters in midseason form!

Some good news from Jupiter (FL)--Santana, Schafer, Plouffe and the bullpen with nice games. I witnessed Plouffe taking infield at first, so not a surprise that he played there. If Mauer or Vargas go down with injury, Plouffe could move across the diamond frequently.

What's it like, living like a king in Patagonia?

I'll let someone change the title of the thread, but

Game 19, Minnesota at Philadelphia (er, spring training sites)

Twins:

Shane Robinson RF

Eduardo Escobar 3B

Eduardo Nunez SS

Oswaldo Arcia LF

Reynaldo Rodriguez 1B

Chris Herrmann C

Doug Bernier 2B

Aaron Hicks CF

Mike Pelfrey P

Phillies:

Ben Revere LF

Odubel Herrera CF

Chase Utley 2B

Ryan Howard 1B (just pinch ran for)

Carlos Ruiz C

Cody Asche 3B

Jeff Francoeur RF

Freddy Galvis SS

David Buchanan P

And that's it for my data entry...

Phillies have a 2 run lead courtesy of a Nunez throwing error and a Asche home run.

(edited because cut and paste was unkind to me...)

Just a quick post from this slow game.  Nunez and Pelfrey not really helping their chances this game.  Nunez took a routine ground ball on a slow batter, took two crow hops and then air-mailed it.  Swipe tag might have gotten the runner, but ruled safe.  Terrible play.  Next batter up hit a bomb.

Pelfrey got a guy on during the fifth inning, and the pace of play immediately became glacial.  Throw the darn ball.  He lost his control and took forever.  7 hits, 2 walks, 2 ks in 4 2/3.

He's replaced mid-inning, two on and two out.  Boyer gets out of the inning.

Eduardo Escobar moved to the outfield as part of a double-switch.

Moving to Fargo would be a demotion.

Started a new thread for the Phillies game, not realizing this was already up.   Nunez made one bad play in the field and one terrible play.  Pelfrey was not good- 7 H, 2 BB, 2 K in 4 2/3.  Pace was glacial.  Boyer came in and got him out of a jam.

Eduardo Escobar moved to the outfield as part of a double switch.

Thanks for the effort. And thanks to the moderator who cleaned it up.

I shoulda gotten to it sooner...

Well, if I'm the only one watching this game, everyone else made better choices.

I just glanced at the MLB play by play but thanks for the extra color.

I will try to ask this delicately: but was Hicks removed from the game as part of that mid-inning double switch that put Escobar in the outfield?

Wasn't paying attention at the time, but lookin' at gameday, yeah, i assume so.

It just gets confused as it has both people replacing Pelfrey, which they kind of are, just his differing roles.

Yup.  I didn't see Hicks do anything that would have caused him to be removed from the game, other than his position in the batting order.  Arcia fought a ball to death before making the catch- one Phillies announcer blamed a "high sky", the other announcer laughed at him and said the sky had clouds and was no excuse.

More importantly than the stats, was Pelfrey battling his tail off?

Do the teams really bring so few players on these road trips? Just trying to learn :)

Phillies announcers just mentioned that the Twins brought very few subs on this trip.  They seemed surprised at the small number.

The tail remained securely attached. He was primarily battling his control.
