In a subsequent tweet, Berardino tweeted that Bobby Cuellar was called by Ryan and Molitor to tell them they are going in a different direction and he won't be back with the team.

Sooo.... does that mean Mason is the one left standing?

Or Carl Willis, or any numbers of others that could possibly be in that final two.

Well, we need more, and better, leakers.

Just got off the phone w/former bullpen coach Bobby Cuellar.                                                            He was informed 2 weeks ago he would not be invited back by #MNTwins.

So much for getting any fresh blood from outside of the organization without Twins' connections...

Pretty disheartening

Don't you think that Mason would be 'somewhat' refreshing and less disheartening?

This tweet helps soften the blow, as well:

New bullpen coach Eddie Guardado made a real impression on several young #MNTwins pitchers in recent springs --                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                               most of all, Alex Meyer.

Ted Simmons as Twins bench coach?  That would be outstandingly refreshing.(Or Yount or Sveum).

Whaaaaaaaa? I didn't even realize Guardado was interested in coaching or that he had been around the Twins organization recently.

I assume Guardado is another Spanish speaker added to the staff. Hailing from Stockton, CA, there's a good chance he's fluent in the language.

Going to completely disagree on this one. And it's NOT because I'm a fan or embracing any Twins family tree. It's because I've witnessed the career and results of the player. I don't have any immediate references as to his communication skills or coaching acumen.

In his career, Guardado went from fairly highly regarded SP prospect to borderline washout, to solid RP, to top Set Up man to All Star closer. He combined stuff and guts and guile to forge a pretty excellent career. If he possesses communication skills and "coachability" skills at all, I'm not sure I could think of a better candidate to oversee the workings of a ML bullpen.

I've mention both Yount and Sveum on a couple occasions and see some real potential with both of them. Both can help with hitting and infield defense. Yount can also help with OF play and baserunning, while Sveum has actual ML manager experience as a bench coach. Hadn't thought about Simmons before. Very interesting thought!!!

According to Lavelle E. Neal: Neil Allen is the other finalist for PC.

Source: Neil Allen and Carl Willis are the finalists to be the Twins' pitching coach. That story will be posted in an hour or so...

I'd be okay with either Allen or Willis as pitching coach.  Neil Allen has no prior connection to the Twins and Willis' connection to the Twins was so long ago and so relatively brief (more than 20 years), that it barely even matters any more.  Besides, he's spent a number of years since then in pitching coach roles with Cleveland and, I believe, Seattle.  Hardly what I would consider a Twins "insider".

Could you imagine the Twins @ Brewers series if Paul Molitor and Robin Yount are both on the visitors bench in Twins uniforms?  I'd have to drive up from Chicago to see that series!

I really don't have a clue about Guardado's ability to coach. He seems like a good guy, and a guy that worked through some adversity in the majors and became a nice player. I don't hate the signing, just wish the Twins would be more open to bringing in guys from other organizations. I really think it would be good for coaches and management to hear other orgs philosophies, training techniques, etc. Why does it seem that even after 4 straight lousy years, they continue to want to do things the same as they always have?
