REPETE Provisional Member Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 All I ask for is socks. BRING BACK THE STIRRUPS!!!
JB_Iowa Verified Member Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 I haiSee attached Thanks to Thrylos ff_806695_xl.jpg.png I like this toned down red, not the bright one from the 90's. I've always wanted an alternative with a "TC" on the chest. This wouldn't be bad with a big TC instead of the Twins script. Put Minny and Paul on the sleeve where the TC is. Also hide the Nike swish on the other sleeve, although I think official jerseys are made by Majestic. I wouldn't even ask for a percentage if they used these ideas, well maybe 50 cents a jersey. I hate that red It looks like watered down tomato soup.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 I just want names on the shirts. I don't care what the shirt looks like at all. But, unless you know the team (MN or not) well, you often have no idea who is on the actual field. I think this is the only sport that thinks keeping the players anonymous is somehow a good idea. It is stupid. No one would start doing that now, it is just tradition.

davidc3915 Verified Member Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 The only thing I disliked about the old gray pinstriped road uniform was that the pinstripes didnt go through the nameplate. I always thought that looked sloppy and low budget.....

I think it's the opposite - the Yankees don't have names on their jerseys becuase they assume everyone already knows who they are. They were one of the first to put numbers on the jerseys, though, to make it easier for fans to recognize Ruth and Gehrig, etc.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 It's a stupid assumption. Kill it. Let the casual fan know who is on the field.
Kirby_waved_at_me Verified Member Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 It's a stupid assumption. Kill it. Let the casual fan know who is on the field. It's more arrogance I think. The Yankees aren't going to change it, the Twins might do it, though. casual fans in the nosebleed seats are probably too far away to read the names anyway...
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 That kind of casual dismissal of fans (last line) is the arrogance of sports teams and sports fans (not you, but some fans) that makes me lose interest in sports. Whatever, i'm not here to change anyone's mind, I was just stating what seems like an obvious flaw in uniforms today. Others can disagree. Frankly, I don't care all that much about anything than the actual play on the field.
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 I know who's on the field and I still want to see names on the jerseys. It's just logical.
woolywoolhouse Verified Member Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 I think they should go with something similar to the Milwaukee Beers from the Baseketball leagues. Do the classic "M" cap, but with a beer over it. http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51ZAItv0PiL.jpg
DocBauer Old-Timey Member Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 Thanks to ScottyB and Thrylos for the shot of the red jersey top! I like it, though maybe a shade darker. And I agree with the Mini and Paul patch on the sleeve, move the TC to the front, with MINNESOTA across the front. White numbers trimmed in blue. Nice!
DocBauer Old-Timey Member Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 All I ask for is socks. BRING BACK THE STIRRUPS!!!Always been a fan of the stirrups. Would love to see them back. If I'm not mistaken, didn't they have the TC on the sides?
stringer bell Verified Member Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 Slightly offTC was on the original caps in 1961 : http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-eC7-PA1rR9s/UNSwIS_Y7DI/AAAAAAAACGk/yVhaK53lmkY/s1600/1961+Minnesota+Twins.jpgI remember the Twins' '61 baseball cards because none of them were wearing a cap! Apparently, the new cap wasn't designed and produced in time for ST when they photographed the players for their cards, so they all had their pictures taken hatless. Harmon always looked better wearing a cap.

twinsfan34 Provisional Member Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 On the ball caps: I don't like the TC on the caps either. It's generic and plain. White, then red. I like M's on the caps in Red, embroided. On the Jerseys:"Twins" or "Minnesota" across the front Two favorite throwback jerseys. 1985 and 1989. Then I'd love to see what they can do for some red uniforms.

Harmon always looked better wearing a cap. yeah, the 61 topps cards were a bit ugly, everyone had "hat hair" - Jose Valdivieso, Billy Consolo, Reno Bertoia, and Frank Lumenti had the TC caps, and Don Mincher it looks like he was wearing a Senators cap that was airbrushed (see the pinstripes? That a Senators jersey). The team card was just everyone in Senators jerseys:http://img.comc.com/i/Baseball/1961/Topps/542/Minnesota-Twins-Team.jpg?id=713176af-4b28-4682-b719-881f139170bb&size=biggerthumbhttp://img.comc.com/i/Baseball/1961/Topps/336/Don-Mincher.jpg?id=fcf87c66-fe8f-4057-aa33-a9571e315f61&size=biggerthumbhttp://img.comc.com/i/Baseball/1961/Topps/469/Ralph-Lumenti.jpg?id=fc5d3e3e-6f6c-4f6d-92c3-03c81f0623dc&size=biggerthumbhttp://img.comc.com/i/Baseball/1961/Topps/504/Billy-Consolo.jpg?id=f49d40d6-39bf-4d5b-99c9-54e8a08a5814&size=biggerthumbhttp://img.comc.com/i/Baseball/1961/Topps/392/Reno-Bertoia.jpg?id=751a1915-b8f1-44ec-a86b-9a7f58edb685&size=biggerthumbhttp://img.comc.com/i/Baseball/1961/Topps/557/Jose-Valdivielso.jpg?id=edfb8f29-6452-40a4-9afe-7efaca179bd6&size=biggerthumb
blindeke Verified Member Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 They should rid themselves of the throwbacks off whites with the blue lettering Saturday home Jersey's uniform anyways. They are about as useless as the armless Jersey's they tried one year. Ever since they started wearing those things in honor of #3 after 2010 the team went down hill. People talk about the trees removal curse, I think think the wretched off white cream colored throwbacks are more of a curse. They lose more games than they win playing in those stinking uniforms anyways. Time to bleep can them. no way man. those are my favorite Twins unis.
