BR: Top 10 Relievers in Five Years

Bleacher Report predicted who baseball's Top 10 relief pitchers will be in five years. These are all minor leaguers, so it's an imperfect post, but it is fun to think of who in the Twins system people believe could be elite (though, of course, I believe there are several more). This list of 10 includes two Twins.

Burdi and Zach Jones?  Or is it a backhanded compliment and they say Alex Meyer?

To me, the relievers in the pipeline cause me to be very optimistic about the Twins near future.  It seems both Meyer and May are going to throw too many pitches to get through five or six innings and our other starters (Houghes may be the exception) will struggle to get through the opponents batting order three or four times.  If the starters can go five or six and the Twins can bring in Reed, Burdi, Jones, Chargois, etc., not to mention Perkins, five or six may be all the starters need to deliver.  

 

The offense is already coming along (sixth in runs scored in 2014) and the additions of Sano and Buxton are looming.

 

It's going to be a good decade to be a Twins fan in the not too distant future.  Gleeman needs to get off Terry Ryan. How long did it take for the Pirates and Royals to rebuild?  Decades?  Ryan is probably going to have it done in five years (2011 - 2015).
