----------------------------

Okay, Brian ... double-header means a double-good set up ... no pressure now ... but it's on you!  (I think I might go and play tennis instead of watching Game 1, so, enjoy.)

-----------------------------

Pressure... Pfft... That's for T-Shirt Launchers.

Things to Think About:

1. Doubleheaders -- This one is an old fashioned double-header... The 2nd game is gonna start 20 minutes after the 1st game concludes. That leaves no time to clear the stadium and bring in a new crowd. So... Cleveland fans who purchase a ticket will be allowed to watch 18 (maybe more) innings of baseball. There was a time when this was an awesome thought. These days... people are complaining if a game goes over 3.5 Hours. I'd be fine sitting at the park for 6 to 8 hours... My wife would be wanting to leave eventually. Of course... It's Cleveland... So if my wife was asking to do something else. I'd just say to her... It's Cleveland... what else can you do.

2. The Indians Chances -- Currently the Indians are 4.5 games out of a wild card spot. Technically that is in the hunt. They have 19 games left to play so it will take an incredible hot streak but it is still possible and it has been done before. The Truth is... The Indians have been in this thing for awhile and it's time for second guessing in Northern Ohio. They were in it at the trade deadline at the end of July and they were in it at the trade deadline at the end of August. However... Indians management were sellers at the deadline... They were not buyers. The Indians will probably finish short this year and it appears that management felt they were going to finish short this year. They are looking at 2015 and beyond.

3. Veteren Smeterens -- Last year the Indians made a few decent sized FA signings while bringing on board Terry Francona as manager. The Indians saw immediate improvement but it all added up to not enough and this year those FA Signings and a handful of Indian Vets were curiously limited helpers. Nick Swisher has been injured this year while producing a .208 BA with 8 homers. Bourn has also been injured and has only stolen 9 bases in 2014. Kipnis hasn't been Kipnis this year with only 6 Home Runs and an OPS of .664. Smaller salaries with names like Brantley and Gomes have joined Santana to take over the leadership of this offense. On the Mound... Justin Masterson fell off the edge of cliff and was traded away at the deadline. Names like Kluber, House and Carrasco have taken over the leadership roles on the mound. Did the FA signings help this team or did they get in the way to something better. I think it's a little of both.

4. Pitching Smitching -- Meanwhile in Minnesota... The Twins poured some bucks into three starting pitchers. Hughes... Nolasco and Pelfrey. Hughes worked out and has so far been well worth the investment. Nolasco has not and Pelfrey... I almost forgot he was on the roster. The Bottom Line... Hughes and Gibson have been decent... Everybody else has been pretty bad. Along with Nolasco... Correia... Deduno... Pino... May and Milone simply haven't performed in a Twins uniform. Out of 144 Starts... Only 57 of them have been Quality Starts. If you take away the 56 starts by Hughes and Gibson... Out of 88 starts... Only 26 of them are Quality starts. I know there are some who hate the QS stat. I'm not one of them... I think that 26 Quality starts from starters not named Hughes and Gibson speaks volumes about why the Twins suffered their 3rd straight bad season. The Twins will get better when the starters get better and it won't happen until it does.

5. Kissable Areas -- As PG as I can make this... Here goes...

A bizarre debate sprung up from a question. Here's the question... How many kissable areas are there on a women's body?

One person was asked and he thought about it and said 6?

I was observing and I shouted out 75!!!

A second person was asked the question and he said umm... 8?

Once again I shouted out 75!!!

The third person asked was an older lady and she said... Just one... The Lips.

I then shouted out... 76!!!

Another Twins Quality Start*

*TQS.....an acronym w/o a definition yet, but i'll think of one today while sitting in the airport.....

Three consecutive innings without striking anyone out.

Bad Gibby today.

This might be one of the more frustrating things of the season.  He has such potential to pitch a great game, but I am never confident going into the game that Bad Gibby is not going to rear his less than stellar head.

Down by 7, 2 innings left.  We can take them if we just score 4 runs each inning.

What did we do that one time we were hosting Detroit?

Alright.  Now down to 1 inning...  Probabilistically, scoring 7 runs in 1 inning is like flipping a coin and getting how many heads in a row?  Where are Rosencrantz and Guildenstern when you need 'em?

Remind her that lawyers' fees take a lot of the fun out of that solution for most couples.

Every square inch, Brian....every square inch. But it was a great joke.

Surface area may not be a clearly defined metric for a variety of reasons.

Anyway, the answer to Brian's joke/riddle/question is 77.  He likely forgot "on the strikes".

Seems I'm the only one tuning into this afternoon's clash of goliaths.  Oh well. Nolasco has the curve working alright.  Wish he'd figured that out 5 months ago...

Nolasco giving up his hits in bunches.  Unlike with Trevor May I don't chalk it up to worries about steals - not with the first hit in the sequence being out of the park. :)

I thought the Indians were phasing out Chief Wahoo. But I see him on the sleeves of the uniforms in this game.

Here is an update I found, that they should consider:

T.J. House is an annoying type of pitcher, just slopping it over.  Why can't our hitters solve him?

Question #2: Why does a gentleman named Glenn Anthony House go by "T.J."? Maybe he's a thrill seeker and is defying elbow surgery.
