Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 Well, it's time to wrap up a pretty ugly series against Cleveland. I'm not going to try to emulate RB's excellent game thread introductions so here's the skinny: - The Good: Phil Hughes is pitching. - The Bad: The Twins are facing Corey Kluber. - The Ugly: The Twins have not scored a run in their last 17 innings. Lineups:Twins:Danny Santana - SSBrian Dozier - 2BJoe Mauer - 1BKennys Vargas - DHOswaldo Arcia - RFTrevor Plouffe - 3BKurt Suzuki - CChris Parmelee - LFJordan Schafer - CF Cleveland:Michael Bourn - CFMike Aviles - SSMichael Brantley - LFCarlos Santana - 1BJason Kipnis - 2BYan Gomes - CLonnie Chisenhall - 3BZach Walters - DHChris Dickerson - RF

Kirby_waved_at_me Verified Member Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 Mauer's average and OBP is climbing this month - I hope he makes it all the way back to .300/.400/.400 levels by season's end. He's back up to .278/.353/.371 as of today... And how about another homer for Arcia?
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 Whoa... I just woke up... the Twins are already playing?
Otto von Ballpark Old-Timey Member Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 Whoa... I just woke up... the Twins are already playing?I read all of your posts as Matthew LeCroy talking into that phone. This one works especially well in that context.
Otto von Ballpark Old-Timey Member Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 How is it that, in 2014, FSN doesn't carry this game? I mean, I am sure that weekday afternoon ratings won't be very good, but they are bound to be better than whatever else they show (in this case, a replay of last night's game, which is very confusing to say the least). I wonder, since FSN declined to carry it, would the game be available locally for MLB.TV subscribers?
Thegrin Verified Member Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 No TV. Anybody know how to filter out Dan Gladden ?
Kirby_waved_at_me Verified Member Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 Hughes seems to be sharp out there - 4 Ks in the first three innings...

sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 Matching goose eggs halfway through the fourth... (Well, the fourth has yet to be matched.) Good little pitchers duel so far.
Ben B Verified Member Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 I have MLB.TV, and they have the Cleveland feed available. It's blacked out in Minnesota still, but I get around it with a VPN.
Kirby_waved_at_me Verified Member Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 Take that, pitcher's duel!
Thegrin Verified Member Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 Vargas is a keeper. I've penciled him in for the next 17 years
big dog Verified Member Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 Wait, we have a lead? We're WINNING??? I like this. Let's hope Hughesie can make one run hold up.

sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 Did i just see what i thought i saw? A strike out on a foul tip, where the glove fell off Suzuki's hand. (Oh, and a tie game on another solo dinger... an offset fence post, rather than strictly matching. Why can't we have nice things?)
Kirby_waved_at_me Verified Member Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 I - what? Kurt Suzuki caught stealing? This is perhaps why we can't have nice things...
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 Suzuki on base with a strange demonstration of conservation of momentum: Ball off his elbow, into the catcher's mask. Catcher's mask flies off, and ball drops to the ground. And then Suzuki gets thrown out at second, presumably on a take and run call? Oh well.
clank2000 Provisional Member Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 I - what? Kurt Suzuki caught stealing? This is perhaps why we can't have nice things... what in Sam Hill....?
Thegrin Verified Member Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 no hopes. no expectations. willing to be pleasantly surprised
Kirby_waved_at_me Verified Member Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 sigh. Well, there's always next inning.

Winston Smith Verified Member Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 Doing the little things, Twins baseball.
Kirby_waved_at_me Verified Member Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 Huh. ESPN only let Cleveland have two outs in that last inning. was the third out on the bases somewhere?
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 Huh. ESPN only let Cleveland have two outs in that last inning. was the third out on the bases somewhere?Yup. Quick throw from Arcia in Right to Santana at 2nd base was called safe originally, but overturned after a challenge.
