I keep thinking if the Twins go on a 10-game winning streak they can get to .500, and then if they play .500 after that, they'll finish at .500.

 

I don't actually keep thinking that, but look at Milwaukee. They started out 20-9, and since then they've played exactly .500 baseball, and they're still in first place.

 

In other words, put together a streak, hold steady, and things turn out good in the end.

 

I believe I'm thinking ahead of myself, perhaps to the Twins in 2018 or 2019?

Has anyone mentioned Torres's padded hat? I am very proud of him for being the first (that I've seen) to wear one. Gutsy!

They did talk about it on the radio feed.  I believe he is the first to wear it.

Everyone is allowed one mistake or slip a season.  I am sure it will not happen again.

Yeesh. Perkins has been playing with fire lately. .391 BAA with an .851 OPS against in past 14 days.

I think he's just trying to keep things interesting.  

 

And by interesting, I mean he thought he could use more wins.  Even though he's a sabermetrics guy and probably doesn't think about the wins stat very often.

Maybe Perkins doesn't like Kevin Correia.

Maybe he just wants Kenny to get a walk off hit.

I keep thinking that if they put together that 10-game winning streak, Mauer comes back and turns back into Mauer, Nolasco comes back the way he was supposed to be, and a couple of young guys come up and contribute, and maybe they stay hot after that streak and finish out 25-15 in the other games that aren't part of the streak.  That leaves them at 86 wins, 87 if they pick up Perkins after this blown save, and probably steals the last wildcard spot.  Then they stay hot in the playoffs, have home-field in the Series, and it's 1987 all over again.

 

This post will probably get me flagged for a drug test at work, but I don't really think this too often.  I just figure if you're going to dream, dream big.  Don't waste it on "maybe we can get to .500."

Perkins threw that one away. I wonder if pitching to Fryer had anything to do with it?

 

I really want Parmalee to win this game for the Twins.  Oh well, :(
