Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 Game-time forecast: Partly cloudy with a 30-percent chance of rain. Winds blowing in from center field at 10-15 m.p.h. Temperature near 90. Getting an early start on the game thread today in a hotel room because I'm not sure what I'm doing later. I don't think Gardy has the lineup ready yet. ChiTown will post it later. INDIANS:SP, House Jason Kipnis 2BAsdrubal Cabrera SSYan Gomes DHCarlos Santana 1BRyan Raburn LFNick Swisher RFRoberto Perez CLonnie Chisenhall 3BMike Aviles CF TWINS:SP, Johnson Danny Santana CFBrian Dozier 2BTrevor Plouffe 3BKendrys Morales 1BJosh Willingham LFKurt Suzuki CChris Colabello DHChris Parmelee RFEduardo Escobar SS -------------------------------- Things to Think About: 1. Indians -- Indian is a brand of Motorcycle that used to rule the Motorcycle world in the early 1900's. They eventually went bankrupt because Cleveland is a low budget operation and they were strapped for cash after purchasing Nick Swisher and Swisher Sweets isn't as profitable as they once were. The Indian brand was purchased by Polaris out of Roseau. Harley Davidson is still the good standard but Indians have improved performance on snow. On the baseball field they are 2 games over .500... Just a couple of games out of a wild card spot. They are in this thing. 2. T.J. House -- T.J. House I guess sounds better than G.A. House. Glenn Anthony House is his real name so TJ makes all the sense in the world. TJ stands for... I don't know... Tomato Juice? Tommy John? Toe Jam? Regardless... Mr. House is in the house tonight... Called up from the minors to make a spot start. He has about 45 innings in the majors this year and has posted a 4.40 ERA... He was a 16th round draft pick in 2008 out of Picayune Mississippi. Picayune is part of the New Orleans Metropolitan Area and that's smart... This way you can live in New Orleans without actually living in New Orleans. 3. Terry Francona -- The Indians have been winning since he's come to town. Terry is 55 years old and was born in Aberdeen South Dakota. Aberdeen is also where Motel 6 got its start. It's amazing that Motel 6 was able to expand the way it did because Aberdeen is a tourist Mecca. Terry Francona lacks hair. 4. Kris Johnson -- His last start in Colorado didn't go so well... But it was Colorado. It's good he gets another start in a place a little closer to sea level. Hopefully this one goes better. 5. Directions -- In a strange city last night... I had to ask for directions. I stopped a guy and he preceding to give me directions with about 45 different changes of directions. While listening... I saw a guy with one leg hobbling down the street. I said "Excuse me"... Then I went over to the one legged guy and asked him... I figured he had to know a faster way.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 4-Kris Johnson--It is probably make or break for the 29 y.o. lefty. Cleveland has a recent history of vulnerability to LH pitching, so maybe Mr. Johnson will have a good outing. He's certainly done well at AAA.
big dog Verified Member Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 I watched about 3 innings of the Tampa series. Clearly my absence was a huge problem for the Twins so I'll be watching tonight. Sorry about that.

Craig Arko Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 Dick and Bert beating the left handed thing to death. Hopefully the Indians don't.
glunn Community Moderator Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 Johnson is on track to strike out 27 tonight, if he can keep up what he did in the 1st inning.
big dog Verified Member Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 So, you're saying you are to blame for the losses? I'm saying I didn't do my part, anyway. My bad. Hey look! The Indians have a utility infielder playing center! And he just managed to make up for a terrible break on a ball by getting there anyway. Let's keep trying him.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 Keep hitting 's like that and some will fall.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2014 Author Posted July 22, 2014 Hotel Room... Twins on... Take out from a BBQ Joint. I'm gonna be alright with that.
big dog Verified Member Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 Johnson is on track to strike out 27 tonight, if he can keep up what he did in the 1st inning. I suppose it would be unfair to term that a jinx...
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2014 Author Posted July 22, 2014 Johnson is on track to strike out 27 tonight, if he can keep up what he did in the 1st inning. Piece of cake... Book it... Why do they call it a piece of cake? When something is easy to do.
curt1965 Verified Member Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 2 innings and Twins not behind yet. Open the bubbly!
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 Hotel Room... Twins on... Take out from a BBQ Joint. I'm gonna be alright with that. Yummm! What's for dessert? (Besides a Twins win)
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 Piece of cake... Book it... Why do they call it a piece of cake? When something is easy to do. because cake baking is easy with the right recipe ... I've made some good ones over the years
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2014 Author Posted July 22, 2014 What's your favorite cake?

John Kelsey Verified Member Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 What's your favorite cake? Keys house cake
glunn Community Moderator Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 I suppose it would be unfair to term that a jinx... My theory was that it was too far over the top to be a jinx.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 What's your favorite cake? Depends on my mood and on the season. I've made all kinds ... but my favorites lean towards to utterly decadent ... chocolate, chocolate, chocolate ... or something lighter, fruity.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 I'm saying I didn't do my part, anyway. My bad. I think one needs a comb to part one's do... (That said, neither have i done much)
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 Okay, big dog ... did you see that? You can never not watch another Twins game ever.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 The bats are back, it would seem.
glunn Community Moderator Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 I love coconut cake, which is usually just vanilla cake with coconut icing. But on rare occasions the cake itself has coconut flavor. I wonder why those occasions seem so rare. Is it difficult to just add some coconut milk to the cake?
