LaBombo Verified Member Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 Nice video! Never seen a whoopy cushion do that before. ... And now we see why they keep Gomes on...Thanks. Hoping not to get 'Spoiler' PM hate mail from people still meaning to see it in the theater, but it was too good to pass up as a metaphor for hearing that from a previously rational Jack Morris.
ashbury Verified Member Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 Can we get Dozier a first baseman's glove?
Richie the Rally Goat Community Moderator Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 Like I said, hindsight is 20/20. I'm sure if we had signed Nyjer Morgan in January we would've had 30 threads about how unhappy people were with the signing and how bad it was for the clubhouse and how it was going to block playing time for Hicks or Arcia or a million other factors. This is in no way saying our current situation is good or better or even remotely acceptable.Hindsight may be 20/20 and foresight is probably closer to 20/600 but even with 20/600 vision you can see that in January, going into camp with exactly zero center fielders with major league success and only two options at CF between AAA and MLB is problematic. As GM you look for options 365 days a year and try to sign free agents starting at midnight the day the World Series is over. I don't care if it was Morgan specifically, just that TR still hasn't solved the problem.

That scene is in every preview, no worries about spoilers

Love having you guys aboard but we normally don't debate extremely hard here.

Unless that's from Godzilla I think we're good.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 Hitters 3-5 are really struggling, as are hitter #7 and #9.
ashbury Verified Member Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 S and Sconnie... Welcome to the game thread... Love having you guys aboard but we normally don't debate extremely hard here. Bill Smith woulda signed Nyjer.
LaBombo Verified Member Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 But... You guys both agree that Jeff Goldblum's character in Independence Day... being the ex-husband of a key member of the Presidents inner circle was awfully convenient and the fact that Will Smith's stripper fiancée finding the 1st Lady after the crash suggest that they all lived in a very small world. Forgave those issues because the dog survived the tunnel explosion, former Taxi star Judd Hirsch's performance as The Fly's dadhttp://justanotherworthlessblog.files.wordpress.com/2010/03/8031.gif and most of all Harry Connick's of Jesse Jackson.

Trick question. Darth Vader doesn't actually say, "Luke, I am your father."
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 Unless that's from Godzilla I think we're good. I approve of spoiling one new movie, but not spoiling which movie is spoiled! Yeah, i didn't know it was from a recent movie, so you're doin' fine. (And gosh, now i'm trying to think the last time i made it to a proper movie theater. As media goes, i feel like i'll echo Walter's 3'000 years of beautiful tradition comment, i'm living in the past.)
ashbury Verified Member Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 You said you were griping about his play, but being fair at the same time, so it didn't come across as you disagreeing with me. Sometimes I contradict myself, but I never do.
LaBombo Verified Member Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 Bill Smith woulda signed Nyjer.Disagree, but he might have time-traveled back to his age 5 T-ball season and signed him as an international in his native People's Republic of San Fra... uhh... too political even for a game thread?
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 Bill Smith woulda signed Nyjer. He did... But he spelled it wrong... and we lost him MSNBC did the same thing with Pierz Morgan
diehardtwinsfan Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 S and Sconnie... Welcome to the game thread... Love having you guys aboard but we normally don't debate extremely hard here. yeah, we just make fun of the fact that the Twins CF position is OPSing something around .600.
diehardtwinsfan Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 Nolasco actually looking like the pitcher we expected to get... Unfortunately, the offense is looking like the offense we expected to see behind him.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 Trick question. Darth Vader doesn't actually say, "Luke, I am your father." My absolute favorite parody of that moment: Luke: "I'm not left handed" Vader: "You are now!"
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 Sometimes I contradict myself, but I never do. Do we need to speak to the contradiction stick? (dang google. is no obscure reference safe?")

They should have driven a taxi to Washington... And Danny DeVito should have been in there somewhere.
ashbury Verified Member Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 He did... But he spelled it wrong... and we lost him MSNBC did the same thing with Pierz Morgan I'm glad Randy Marsh isn't a GM.

LaBombo Verified Member Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 It never reached 'get off my lawn' territory, but Morris's lamenting pitch counts made me afraid he was about to lambast the horseless carriage at any moment.
ashbury Verified Member Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 Do we need to speak to the contradiction stick? (dang google. is no obscure reference safe?") This?
ashbury Verified Member Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 My absolute favorite parody of that moment: Luke: "I'm not left handed" Vader: "You are now!" Two for the price of one, unless I'm missing a third.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 yeah, we just make fun of the fact that the Twins CF position is OPSing something around .600. Exactly... The Twins CF OPS is so low... It's under a (blank) It's under a (Blank)... Fannie Flagg... The Twins OPS is so low... It's under a (Blank).
