sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 I really appreciate the fine art of attaining first base on a strike out, and breaking up the double play, but i hoping for a little more in the 9th!
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2014 Author Posted May 7, 2014 I yearn for the day that Hermann and Colabello don't have to start. Get back soon, Mauer and Arcia/Willingham! I get the Herrmann part... But I admit to being completely lost on the Cola sentiment.
Whammy Verified Member Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 9,621 in Cleveland looks like way more than 25,000 in Minneapolis
diehardtwinsfan Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 If for no other reason than the possibility that he might get hit by a pitch and still slide head-first into the bag. and that in his worst season, he was still better than Herrman or Florimon?
howeda7 Verified Member Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 I don't normally enjoy Gardy-bashing but not PH'ing Pinto for Hermann is inexcusable. Period.
Beezer07 Provisional Member Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 I get the Herrmann part... But I admit to being completely lost on the Cola sentiment. I don't like him at all in the field, and I'd rather if we weren't counting on a hot streak of a lifetime to continue.
diehardtwinsfan Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 Having Hermann on the roster is inexcusable.... Having Hermann, Florimon, and 14 pitchers on the roster is inexcusable...
Beezer07 Provisional Member Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 I don't normally enjoy Gardy-bashing but not PH'ing Pinto for Hermann is inexcusable. Period. Who plays in the OF after that happens?
Monkeypaws Verified Member Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 i'd say they would make them watch the game... Though in reality they just weren't fans. Cleveland fans are some of the sparsest i've ever met. fify
LaBombo Verified Member Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 and that in his worst season, he was still better than Herrman or Florimon? Yeah, as much fun as it has been to go there about Punto, he was clearly a better ball player when with the Twins than Flerrmoan. Made me a little sad to type that.
Whammy Verified Member Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 Who plays in the OF after that happens?Phil Hughes if we need him to... Our chances weren't going to get any better than that.
Guest USAFChief Guests Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 Nice debut for 'Nellie. Except for the K of course, but I'm sure Andy can work with him on that.
Beezer07 Provisional Member Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 Cleveland: Where the strike zone is lower and outside-r than you'd expect.
howeda7 Verified Member Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 Who plays in the OF after that happens? Escobar or Santana. They've been telling us how versatile both are for weeks. I don't care if you have to put a $%^ pitcher out there. You're down 3 runs in the 7th and you've scored 2 runs in the last 20 innings.
Beezer07 Provisional Member Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 Cabrera's like "as long as I don't do that three or four more times, what do I care?"
LaBombo Verified Member Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 I don't normally enjoy Gardy-bashing but not PH'ing Pinto for Hermann is inexcusable. Period. But what if Suzuki got hurt in what was almost certainly the last AB of the game? You'd feel pretty silly knowing that your last contribution to the internet right before our planet was consumed internally by a black hole was a knock against the very man who stands on guard against that possibility... http://img3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20100409094451/memoryalpha/en/images/0/06/Vulcan_consumed_by_black_hole.jpg
Monkeypaws Verified Member Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 OK - I'm on the Escobar for short bandwagon. He's looked good in the field and at the plate.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2014 Author Posted May 7, 2014 Shoulda left Herrmann in to bat. Shucks
howeda7 Verified Member Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 Escobar with 2 more hits. Hitting .348. I look forward to Florimon starting the next 3 games...

Reider Verified Member Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 I agree about Escobar.. we definitely need to continue giving him innings. He's playing pretty good defensively and at the plate. Herrmann on the other hand isn't hitting. The Twins have only scored 3 runs in the last two games. It's time to get those bats going again.

Richie the Rally Goat Community Moderator Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 Mauersie needs to go to the DL. on a side note, the first time I typed " Mauersie" auto correct changed it to "Mauer die". I almost left it, but I didn't mean it. He's not a horse, and doesn't need to be put down for a bad back, just rub some dirt on it and rest it.
glunn Community Moderator Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 At least the pitching seemed decent tonight.
twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 The Riders had too many men on the field in the 2009 Grey Cup against Montreal with no time left on the clock. Montreal missed the field goal, but due to the penalty, they were allowed to kick the field goal again and they made it, beating the Riders. It was the most devastating loss in Roughrider history. Hence the 13th man jokes. Thus a bakers dozen is now referred to as a Rider dozen in the rest of Canada. You're right about the Bombers, take your shots while you can, I can and will take it, no defense. See you on labour day!!
LaBombo Verified Member Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 At least the pitching seemed decent tonight. After three years of futility, that standard applied to the Twins' starting pitching is pretty much the same as the initial one applied to drone strikes, i.e. no civilian casualties. That being said, agreed, and tip of cap for the optimism . Happy for Darnell and there was something as uplifting tonight about Twins pitching tonight as having your/your son's Pinewood Derby car finish mid-pack but be voted 'Car with Coolest Hand-painted exhaust flames'.

Reider Verified Member Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 Do you trot Santana out to a corner?Hey, that's a great question to be honest. I raise you, can he play outfield? I know he has the speed, but if he can track balls down better than Jason Bartlett, it might be a good way to get his bat and speed in the line up. I just have no idea how good he is at tracking fly balls down.
