Things to Think About:

 

1. One Thousand Wins -- Ron Gardenhire reached 4 digits in wins yesterday... This is quite the accomplishment. Not many Managers are around long enough to reach this number. It speaks to his ability and it speaks to his longevity. To stay around long enough... You gotta make a lot of right decisions. Right decisions on the field and right decisions on the phone... Email and face to face meetings with players and the Owners and GM. To reach a thousand Wins... It isn't just on the field... You gotta be good off the field as well.

 

2. One Thousand Losses -- Gardenhire's career record stands at 1000-950... That means it's very probable that Gardy will reach 1,000 losses in 2014. That milestone should also be celebrated. One thousand losses with the same club is probably a harder accomplishment compared to 1 thousand wins.

 

3. One Thousand At Bats -- They say that it takes about 1,000 at bats before you know what you have in a player. I don't know who said it first but a lot of important people echo it. Arcia 397 Hicks 334 Colabello 200... What do we have? Indeed.

 

4. One Thousand Dollars a Day -- Is $365,000 a Year... Major League Minimum is $500,000. February to September is 7 months of work a year... Average Family Doctor makes $158,000. So take all those numbers and add them all together and Gardenhire reached 10 Thousand Wins and each ball player should try real hard.

 

5. One Thousand Words -- They say a picture is worth a thousand words. How do photographers feed their family with that kind of value?

Enjoy the game today everyone. I'm going to a local game today ... Cubs v Phillies. I hate Wrigley, but the ticket was free and it's a good seat, ie not obstructed behind a pillar.

It looks like Arcia will miss a few more days with his bad wrist. Hopefully this won't linger past that. If it does we may see Mastroianni back. There are still two open spots on the 40 man, yes?

The PP says that if Arcia can't go by Wednesday, he'll go on the DL. I have been thinking about transactions and also the two vacancies on the 40-man--from within the organization, Mastro looks like the best bet. The Twins can claim a player or two who might be better fits.

Point #1 is good, the comparison with TK.. not so sure.

 

TK retired with a losing record.

 

If you factor in what fans have been saying/give Gardy a decent roster for the last 2-3 seasons, and his record would likely look much better- and it's already better for WP than TK's.

 

Point #3: Colabello is on fire... so far, the happy surprise has been seeing good offensive production. Kinda crazy question, but wtf- what if the Twins actually hit and produce runs this year? Just curious...

Depends on your definition of Riot. If riot means turning over cars and lighting them on fire... I'd say no because the membership is too scattered. If riot means typing mean words in the direction of Gardenhire... I'd say yes.

DL move today. Either Willy or Arcia. I might do both, get Herrman and Mastro for 15 days.

 

It will get Pinto in lineup everyday and allow Arcia and Willy to heal well.

 

I guess we will see how serious Willys injury is.
