  1. Dang that's high. Yeah when I made my suggestion it was assuming EROD at about 50 and Gabby around 100. Gabby is about one year behind EROD and with I little maturation his power could develop, helping his numbers. The thing that worries me with Rodriguez is his lack of contact. Gabby doesn't have that problem, but this is a big year for him. Can he bouce back at A+and even make AA later in the year? We will see but these two might be closer than people think. Maybe I better reconsider Rodriguez though. BTW I never said anything about Luzardo. With this front office, if they trade for a starter it is likely to be someone nobody has been discussing.
  2. We had these same sorts of comments last year and it was obvious we would get a repeat this year. It is indisputable that you need well more than 5 starters to get through an MLB season. If Louie is in the rotation to start the year then there is absolutely no proven depth behind him. It could be argued that Louie is unproven too. People seem to get all worked up when we have a MLB caliber starter waiting in St Paul "wasting his bullets". Would you prefer to return to the days when we had 2 or 3 mediocre MLB starters in place and had to sign replacement level starters to fill out the rotation? Having a guy like Louie in St Paul is a good thing. It is an indication of depth. You can argue that T Disco isn't as good as Louie, but Louie has options. It's as simple as that. In spite of all the hand wringing last year Ober made 25 starts and it all worked out as I predicted it would. You will get to see Louie on the mound plenty even if he starts in St Paul, that cannot be denied. I would prefer they flip Disco and use either EROD or Gabby as part of a package to get a starter with upside and multiple years of control. I'm not holding my breath, but it may happen. I'm very glad they didn't trade one of those guys for 1 year of Burnes however. When healthy Tony D has been much better than a fringe guy anyway. Sure we don't know if he will be healthy and if healthy if he can be as good as '21 or the beginning of last year. At his age that is fair to question and why I would prefer to flip him and get someone better. If he is on the team I definitely want Louie in St Paul working on his 3rd pitch, waiting, hungry. If every year we have a Ober, a Varland stashed in St Paul we'd be in pretty good shape, eh? Next year it could be Festa.
  3. Yeah I think Tom F mentioned in one of his videos that some of the A ball games would be available this year.
  4. Winokur caught my eye at the draft and his highlights from his first taste of pro ball were exciting. He sure is high on this list considering his draft status. Not complaining he has me intrigued as well. I'll be keeping an eye on him. I heard he somewhere milb TV will be showing some of the lower level games this year.
  5. There is most likely a gray area of reasonable response from a corporate P & L perspective to the payroll situation the Pohlads face. From a purely anecdotal and lay perspective the Pohlads sure seem to reside in the most frugal end of that gray area.
  6. With the poor start and great finish Max ended up with a .816 OPS. If he gives you that he blows away Soler. I have no idea what we will get from Max, or many other Twins, lol.
  7. Kirilloff is hard to figure out. I went to B Ref to see if his numbers were brought down late in the year by injury. I don't know when he first injured his shoulder, but he was so up and down is hard to say that injury caused poor performance. It is true that every damn off-season he has been dealing with something. To truly reach his potential a healthy off-season to get in the best shape of his life is in order. Unfortunately that's not happening this year. If Alex is healthy and strong I see an OPS over .800.
  8. Agreed unless my dream happens and Kep continues where he left off in spite of losing his buddy.
  9. I don't want to pile on and I certainly don't want to poke the bear and get mauled, lol, but here goes. How does losing our vaunted 2 two hole hitter and Kepler while adding Soler boost the offense? (ducks)
  10. Their original comments about the budget said between 125-140m. I'm holding on to that. I don't think their done and they said want a frontline starter. Whether they pull that off remains to be seen, sure. With both EROD and Gabby G I'd tell another team take your pick. Maybe EROD is rated a little higher, but I don't care and some teams might like Gabby's contact skills better. Add in some lesser prospects, maybe even Disco and were all set. That should be the priority over a bat. Disco is going to cost us 4m. Some team will be willing to pay that for a MLB caliber starter, he has value at that price. Maybe just bag of balls, but I don't think the twins need to cover salary there.
  11. These 2 get compared often. I don't know. Yes the Baseball Reference height and weight listings aren't updated, but the eyes don't lie. Schobel 5'9" 170, Keaschall 6'1" 190. In comparison Keaschall looks like a beast to me.
  12. The new guy Gabby Gonzo has quite the leg kick too. Great contact numbers, the kick looks like a controllable timing and power generating mechanism.
  13. When I'm baying for the front office, I prefer a lower octave.
  14. Man this has been quite the jolt of content since this news broke last night. It's been hard to keep up, lol. Anyway I'm glad they finally did something and who knows, they might lose Tony Disco, grab a better pitcher using EROD or Gabby and even land a right handed outfielder! I would be happy then.... and surprised, lol.
  15. Maybe this is the reason we don't see the writers mentioning a players size. The days isn't reliable. I don't understand why it isn't more accurate, does anyone else?
  16. Yikes 80? Yeah it's crazy so far. Did get in what I think will be my last ski until we finally get some more white gold. Fun times for me and the dogs. Could always road trip to the Wasatch!
  17. @chpettit19said, "Question is what they do with DeSclafani if they bring in Clevinger or Ryu. Since he's extremely cheap now you can probably flip him for a flier prospect so that'd be an interesting situation. " Sign me up for that situation! I don't see it, but maybe because Gonzalez gives us another chip. If they pull a frontline starter out of their hat and IKF Tony Disco, me likey very much!!
  18. Part of what made the switch hitting Polanco great was his strong side was as a lefty hitting rightys. Farmer is a better right handed hitter against leftys.
  19. Falvey was quoted by Gleeman stating that they would likely now use available cash for a bat not pitching..... 😐
  20. I thought you wanted Eddie to get work against leftys.
