  1. I'm not so sure Joe needs any teaching here. People cry about anything and even nothing, lol, like when they complain that management is keeping them in the dark. Social media becomes a problem only when you pay attention to it. If I'm Joe, I'm sleeping well knowing I avoided tainting my vocal chords with corporate speak and instead opted for the straight dope.
  2. Man I hope that's ∆∆∆ not correct Stringer. Here is hoping AK just smacks around rightys so bad that Carlos has a hard time getting in the lineup against them.
  3. I do think it is short sighted to take the cash now while leaving many potential fans without the ability to watch the team. Yes they have killed the momentum from last year. Now with Amazon involved, does that mean BSN will survive and the Twins are back on it next year? Again giving up streaming rights? This confuses me because you would think a group with billions of dollars would be adept at smart business decisions. Baseball's fan base overall is aging, you would think it would be prudent to try to reach as many young fans as possible. Especially when the product is good and just had success. This whole thing doesn't make sense to me. I would think a large organization like the Pohlads would be it in front of this thing. Selfishly of course I would love to cancel my $1200 a year Fubo subscription and just pay to stream the Twins.
  4. Edited; not particularly well said. I do appreciate the positive responses.
  5. In boxing an unseen punch can be more devastating, denting even the iron chinned. There may be some in the clubhouse who know what really happened. Twins Daily not so much.
  6. The Schadenfreude Taverne.
  7. Well there you have it, Canterino pretty clearly lays out their plan for him. I like it, by mid-season they'll know how he's going and he'll be stretched out to start, but also not have too many innings on him. Good plan. If he shows out, in the second half he could help from the pen or as a starter. Man it will be fun watching this play out. Canterino is the Twins wild card.
  8. ChatGPT? I kid. Seriously though I watch a ton of narrated nonfiction content on many subjects and lately I find myself wondering if I'm listening a machine. Where have you gone Marlin Perkins?
  9. When watching highlights of Miller in the field, he's got the instincts, and good range, but man the arm stands out. Every throw is a chest high rope until he's deep in the hole, then you see the money one hopper. Correa one hops most of his throws to good results. Miller only when deep in the hole.
  10. This new news on SWR answers a question I asked about in a thread about him that went unanswered. He had gone to an overhead delivery because it made his pitches really move and led to the high Stuff+ rating. My question was whether it limited his velocity ceiling. Apparently it did so he has gone towards the much more popular three quarters delivery. Hopefully we see him consistently back in the mid 90's. This is a big year for the young man.
  11. I agree with you much of the time, but this is not something I would do. I would trade Lee first, I think Julien is special. I'm not sure I would trade Lee though for just a one year rental.
  12. There can be a huge void between the 4th and 5th, or any 2 consecutive rankings in any list. In our list right now #3 ERod is a consensus top 50 guy while #4 Gabby G sits outside the top 100. That is a wide gulf. It is a small point I make. Festa and Raya are similar even with the 6 inch height difference in that they struggle with endurance. They are both slight. They could both hop on Louie Varland's back while he does his squats. I'm curious to see how they look coming into camp this year. Festa is entering his mid 20's and may just remain a rail thin guy. I'm hoping to see a little more beef on both of them this season.
  13. Put me in the camp that it would be better roster management to have Lewis in left than Julien at DH. Julien can handle second well and he will show it this season. The only time I would do a full-time DH is if you have a guy like Nelson Cruz. Guys like Nelson Cruz do not come along often. The Twins have added needed prospect depth to the outfield in the last year. That depth is a ways away. For now if all the infield talent shows, it makes sense to consider moving one of them to the outfield to get them all at bats. Kepler is likely gone next year and an outfield from left to right of Lewis, Buxton and Wallner makes sense. Now, of course, how all this sorts out will be fun to watch.
  14. A hot spring will not be enough to get Lee up. Does anybody remember Miranda's 1.200+ OPS last spring followed by a .566 OPS in 40 major league games? When viewing offensive stats consider the competition. What pitchers is he facing? Single A guy? Double A guy? It's similar to the Arizona Fall League where your guy is raking, but nobody sent their good pitchers. If Lee is up for opening day, it means the big league infield roster was hit with the plague.
  15. C'mon now Falvey was obviously saying that it was Brooks Lee's playing that would say when he is ready. His play is not there yet, he was just quoted as saying just that himself. The roster is not ready for him either. The ideal scenario for those who are eager to see Lee is that an injury and his play in AAA, dictate that he takes a full time, but temporary role for an injured regular. Of course in that case he could possibly play so well he never gets sent back down.
  16. It interesting to hear this rule spelled out. It is a tiny thing really only effecting the cream of the crop. Presumably it would be bad teams with the highest picks that would have the best chance to benefit from this, so it could more often than not help with competitive balance. It would be unwise to base your decision making on your guy being the one player that might meet the criteria. If the MLB is serious about ending service time manipulation, this is not the answer. Much more would need to be done. Lee is clearly not ready, but will be called up at some point. Service time will not be a factor in this case. A hot spring means nothing, just look at Miranda last year.
  17. Looks like Okert has been used for between 50 & 60 innings a year. Last year he started out poorly through his first 5 appearances in April, then got hot. He did then decline every month as the season wore on. Does he routinely wear down? Even only pitching less than 60 innings? With the bullpen depth they have they shouldn't have to ride him hard. The strikeouts look good.
  18. Well @stringer bellyou can listen to the smooth vocal stylings of Reusse every Monday morning on Michael Rand's podcast. Rand just winds Patrick up and let's him go, lol.
  19. I just read The Old Scribe's article at the Strib on young Matty C and it got me fired up! https://www.startribune.com/after-overcoming-arm-injuries-matt-canterino-ready-for-whatever-twins-throw-at-him/600342358/ Matt is now 26 years old and has missed out on years of pro development due to covid and slow playing his balky elbow. He had TJ surgery in August of 2022 which is now a full year and a half in the past. He says he is 100% and is rip roaring to get after it. Canterino's stuff just jumps and he's got the personality to match. He rehabbed with fellow Texan Paddack and the two just fed off each other. I've got a feeling these two guys are going to offer enough thrills in Minneapolis this summer to make us forget a milquetoasty off-season and uninspiring payroll. Canterino can be a weapon for this team right out of camp. It was said the medical types cleared him for 125 innings, well there you have it. Let's hit the ground running and have Canterino break camp with the big club! Anybody got the straight dope on Matty C? Here's as good a place as any to post it. Now where's my Pez dispenser? https://twinsdaily.com/news-rumors/minnesota-twins/matt-canterino-bullpen-force/# https://twinsdaily.com/news-rumors/twins-minor-league/matt-canterino-enjoyed-watching-the-twins-while-crushing-his-rehab-r15222/ https://twinsdaily.com/blogs/entry/23639-matt-canterino-interview-hows-the-twins-9th-ranked-prospect-doing/ https://twinsdaily.com/videos/minnesota-twins-minor-leagues/twins-spotlight-rhp-matt-canterino-r801/ https://youtu.be/DIPDZEfKZk0?si=Lcmm6FCDxeIYp4tD
  20. Baseball is a tough racket. Balazovic has undoubtedly put in plenty of work to get to where he is at. He may still find his place among the best of the best. The Twins couldn't get him ready in time and now will most likely lose him. Them's the breaks.
  21. I can't remember where I heard it, some podcast probably, that Festa's fastball velocity would drop down to the low 90's after a few innings. This guy is beyond skinny, shoulda got him up for Twins Fest and a steady diet of juicy Lucy's!
  22. Just noticed that I am one of 32 who have voted. That must make me some kind of dork. A unique dork or is it niche dork?
  23. One thing that doesn't get touched on is his over the top delivery, which makes him unique in today's game. Does that delivery impact his velocity ceiling?
