  1. They have shown that even when they had multiple guys on innings limitations, they still wouldn't go for the 6 man rotation. The 6 man rotation sounds good on paper, but from a roster and usage standpoint it's not that easy. Same with the long man role. The Twins long man has been a fringe guy who sits on the bench for a week without being used while they try to win games using better relievers. Louie needs to be in St Paul getting regular starts and working on his third pitch.
  2. It has been posted here that Eddie's defense improved and towards the end of the year his defensive metrics surpassed Polo's at second during the stretch run. I'm not sure where to find the defensive stats but it's posted here somewhere. Offensively this is what we got Regular season Polo .255/.335/.454/.789 Julien .263/.381/.459/.839 Post season Polo .209/.346/.349/.695 Julien .294/.455/.588/1.043 Julien will continue to improve defensively. He said this week during Twins Fest that he got a lot of work batting in the cages growing up in Montreal (it shows), but didn't get much fielding work. His goal since turning pro is to take thousands of grounders more than his peers to catch up. Eddie will refine his two strike approach while also getting more respect for his eye by the upms. He was just a rookie. I don't think Eddie is the most likely regression candidate of the Twins excellent rookie class from last year. His eye is too good.
  3. They need rotation depth. Varland is that guy. The pen is fine without him. Yes Louie looked good in the pen, but they would be foolish to not give him a chance to prove he belongs in the rotation. Just like last year with Ober, Varland is the guy with options. Of course down the stretch and in the playoffs if it makes sense to put him in the pen, then yes that would be a great move. I am becoming a broken record on this subject so I'm going to try to just leave it at that.
  4. Tony Disco will be starting, Falvey said he likes him anywhere in the rotation. They do not do 6 man rotations. Louie will be in St Paul waiting his turn. Many fans will grumble about him wasting his bullets there.
  5. Farmer hits leftys and plays a nice second base. Clubhouse leader too.
  6. I hope they are not done I don't think enough was done to shore up the rotation. I love Polo, but this was the time to move him. Getting top of the rotation, controllable pitching for him was not happening. I am happy that Julien is the starting second baseman (Lee is not ready). It is also good that the DH is open for rotation. My question, can they somehow trade Anthony D (some bottom feeder has to want a what is now 4m starter for a bag of balls, which would then free up more cash) and use cash and some not top prospects to get a better pitcher? Unfortunately I don't think so, I think they are going for a righty bat.
  7. Well I guess going in I'll know John's stance when I tune in to the next G&G during my morning ski (I did find some barely adequate snow on some public land, where's my winter? ☹️).
  8. Lee is not ready. Julien is your second baseman. I don't see Eddie struggling this year considering his skill set. He is much different than Miranda and not injured.
  9. I agree with this part 😀. This is a win win for Louie. He gets his chance to prove whether he can be a major league starter. Then in crunch time he gets to light it up from the pen which he enjoys immensely after that taste he got last year. The only change to this plan i see is Varland pitches so well as a starter they consider him for that role to the end and into the playoffs. There will be much hand wringing if he is in St Paul to begin the season, but I don't see him starting the season in the pen. I wouldn't want him to either.
  10. I'm hoping Anthony D is moved and a better starter is pushing Varland to AAA. Listening to Varland on G&G he now truly sounds open to either role. He just wants to be in the show. Personally I want to see him get one more real shot as a starter.
  11. They could easily move Anthony D with the cash and then they have the salary room...
  12. If the season started today, Louie is in AAA preparing as a starter. Waiting his turn.
  13. Damn man I'm going to miss Polo! DeScalfini for one year. It's hard to get excited about this guy. Louie is either on the farm or in the pen now. I'll miss ya Jorge
  14. A God from the land of poutine, lol https://youtu.be/CrSZ7AV0cLY?si=_J7mE3PevTjSmsTh
  15. I can tell you who I don't want them to get rid of, lol. I don't follow other teams enough to know the players and I'm not much into speculation. Looking at the overall talent level of the organization, I think they are on the right track. Yes they may have a middling system right now, but it looks better when you consider the immense amount of talent that has graduated in recent years. Their drafting and development has improved this club and I think they need to be careful with their assets right now to keep the ball rolling. I'd like them to spend a little less on a pitcher they think they can take to the next level. Pitching development is starting to look like a strength, lean into it.
  16. Please do not trade Julien for one year of a pitcher! This might just be a special bat. His fielding will continue to improve. Did you watch him in the playoffs? Eddie will win you games. This is my guy. Burnes represents a retail priced luxury item. That does not fit the shopping tendencies of this front office. If it did they would've traded for Alcantara not Lopez. A guy like Pablo is more up their alley. Good not great track record. Someone they think has more to unlock. Years of control. I'll bet when they do make their move it will be a pitcher that wasn't the subject of intense speculation on Twinsdaily.
  17. Dug a hole, lol? The off-season is ongoing. Let's keep score at the end.
  18. Go Kitties!!
  19. Yeah I forgot to mention Castro, but I also like him as a utility type. Fill in in center sure. If there is a long term need then I want someone else carrying the load.
  20. At this point of course it is all speculation. I'm not drinking the KoolAid and I'm also not drinking whatever the sour grog is that others are peddling. As I've posted many times on other threads there is hope because of the very common success of plica surgery, the very short recovery time and the fact that it is hard to diagnose and is often confused with patella tendonitis. This all fits this situation well. They are singing a very different tune than last season clearly stating they expect him in center. It sure would be great if Buxton opens the season healthy in center. None of any of this will matter if Buck cannot learn to protect his body while he plays baseball. That is his only hope of fulfilling his contract. It could happen. Buxton could actually have a good career.
  21. I should probably apologize for my persistent thread drift. To the OP I guess my reluctance to post on what to do with center is because there is still so much uncertainty with the roster. If Buxton is going to fulfill his contract, this year it is crucial he proves they found the problem with his knee and he can learn to protect his body as he ages. I'm not going to speculate on how many games he needs to play. Success to me is a healthy Buxton starting in center to open the playoffs. How he gets there is less important. The Twins really like Nick Gordon and Kyle Farmer which helps their causes. What will Gordon look like? Who knows. My worry here is if he falters do they let him hang around? It is a results business, act accordingly. Martin has a skill set that could really fit this club. He needs to start in AAA. From there will he force his way into an opening? Martin stepping up would be huge
