  1. Wednesday against Boston was caused by the pre-game meeting. So everybody in the clubhouse knew people were going to be traded. The Correa deal was made between the owners, the Pohlads and in Houston Crane.
  2. They can finish the sell of the team now. They minimized the payroll and cleared some payroll space. The Pollads don't get any money back. The new owners can come in and won't have to deal with Correa boat anchor.
  3. I wonder if the Twins will get anything in return? Like maybe a free plate of Bar-B-Q.
  4. Hendry was rated 12th on the Philly prospect list. He just recently has risen 2 spots on the list😃
  5. Correa still owns a home in the Houston area and they spend a lot of time there during the winter. If moving, it would be better for the kids to relocate now then later. Also the Pollads are only going to pick up his salary for as long as they own the team. It might be better for the new owners to have clean check book to shop for free agents next winter.
  6. I expect Abel, the new #6 prospect, to slide into the Twins rotation. They have the rest of this years schedule to work with him on what he needs. Tait is listed at #4, but if Keaschall plays the rest of the way for the Twins, he may move up to #3. Or then again Tait and Abel may slide down the list after being re-evaluated.
  7. Tate is listed as the Twins 4th best prospect and Abel as the 6th. That could change in a month but it looks good for now. Maybe the Twins know something about Durans decline the past 2 years that others don't.
  8. I think the Pollads would be doing the "new" owners a big favor by trading Correa and taking the heat for it. The new owners could then say they weren't the ones who traded him. But if the team is going to reduce the payroll, Correa has to be traded and the best place to get him to accept is probably Houston. The Dodgers and Dodger fans would never take him. The Yankees might and maybe the Mets. Instead of eating money the Twins might throw in Larnach to give the Astro's the lefthanded outfielder they want. I wonder what that trade would look like.
  9. The team needs to identify and bring up next years Varland this year. Maybe 2.
  10. The kid sounds like he has some good tools that can get better. We need solid catching prospects, but that's the same as 75% of the teams in baseball. The story is old. If you want to play major league baseball put on the tools of ignorance.
  11. Not everyone needs to throw hard enough to risk arm injuries. I've been watching Ohl to see if he would get a chance.
  12. Many if not most of these deals had salary restrictions anchoring them. If all trades are hindered with the "do raise the salary limit" caveat, it's kind of difficult to get the best deals. There's another whole level of trades that Twins have never been able to reach into.
  13. I'm open for trades that would make us better next year and the year(s) after. This team hasn't been going anywhere for awhile, even if they lucked into the playoffs. Just making a wild card is simply not good enough. Stewart is a good 25 inning per year reliever. But you can't really build your pen around that. You'd need 3 of him for that spot.
  14. When Clemens is your cleanup hitter, you're not a team contending for anything. It looks like Joe Ryan will be closing in on 32 before Twins contend for anything. I wouldn't force a trade this week, but I would be open to getting bowled over by one. Maybe Joe was called by a friend yesterday about moving to Southern California an area he is from.
  15. I would look to trade all three for a high powered relief pitcher from double or triple A. Let the pitching development group look at making the pitcher or pitchers into 6th inning pitchers. I'd also be listening if someone brought up Correa's name. Admittedly I've never been a fan and his contract is really a boat anchor. Maybe a new owner will have more bucks to spread around and make this closer to a contending team. Not just for the division crown.
  16. I'd look at trading Larnach for a high octane failed starter at triple A. If we happen to trade Jax or Duran, having support in reserve will come in handy.
  17. If you haven't watched the Twins this year, then you might think there was no room for a player like Gonzalez. But if you have watched, then you know this team needs all the hitting they can get. He might not win a gold glove or steal 50 bases but this team needs guys who can hit.
  18. I think all the additional rule changes implemented to dis-improve the game have worked.
  19. I check in on DeAndrade at least once a month. I thought he had a good chance to be the Twins future shortstop, although he doesn't appear to be playing much at shortstop now with Culpepper there.
  20. I don't like trading good players either. I don't think anyone likes it except when they get better players in return. If Willi would walk anyway, which I think, the best course is to trade him and make the best trade possible. You can choose to trade players from your own team, but you only get to pick from the best of what is offered in return.
  21. I'm pretty sure the thought of leaving has occurred to Correa already. He has a big check coming no matter where he goes, I'm sure he realizes the career hi-lites he's missing by staying in Minnesota. I wouldn't doubt he's been expected to get traded to a contender since he signed the contract. He wanted the guaranteed money first. Probably Buxton has had similar thoughts, maybe not as long. He's knew he needed to be able to stay healthy first. You don't see him trying to plow into fences as much as he used too. Big plus, is as opposed to Correa, is that Buxton only gets paid amounts equal to a very mediocre starting outfielder unless he has a tremendous season.
  22. Are they willing to bring up Rodriguez, when healthy, and watch him strike out 50% of the time the rest of this year? Let him get much of the rookie bugs out of his system. Then I might trade Larnach in a good trade for us.
  23. Sell or trade expiring contracts otherwise stand pat.
