  1. He should be starting against righties all the time if he’s healthy but Rocco’s comments make it sound like Santana is going to be playing a lot which I do not want/like
  2. Your perception is not reality Only the Reds and Braves have been good at drafting/developing SP in the Falvey/Levine era Since 2017, drafted SP’s who have accumulated 2 bWAR or more Reds: 4 Braves: 3 Red Sox, Dodgers, Rays, Yankees, Mariners, Tigers and Angels all have 2 Twins, Padres, Guardians, Marlins, Brewers, Royals, O’s, Jays and Mets all have 1 Zero for the D’Backs, Cubs, White Sox, Rockies, Astros, A’s, Phillies, Pirates, Giants, Cardinals, Rangers and Nats. I know I didn’t name specific players, but to get an idea of where I lumped guys in, I put Joe Ryan as a Ray as he was drafted by them and spent the majority of his time in their system even though all his WAR is from being a Twin. Most teams have one or two, which includes the Twins. They are not “well below average” at developing starting pitching. Do they need to be better at it? Absolutely, but if they suck at it than so do 28 other teams because I don’t consider those who have two vs the Twins one to be well advanced at developing them since it’s only one digit/player away from having the same amount
  3. Announced today
  4. I’d wait at least one year for him to prove his health. I love the guy, but it’s too early for me. I realize that may mean the price goes up. It’s worth the risk to wait. If it were my money, I’d offer him something like 9/120 right now. He would very likely turn that down and I wouldn’t blame him for betting on himself.
  5. On paper, I liked last year’s rotation much better and that was still when I was expecting something from Mahle. I expected last year’s rotation to be great and they were. I only expect this rotation to be good. I don’t like Varland or Desclafani in the rotation. I’ve been wanting Varland in the BP for two to three years now. He needs to fix his HR problem. He also needs to be striking more guys out than he has (as a starter at the MLB level). If/when he does that I’ll support him in a starting role. Desclafani I have zero faith in at all so I hope he proves me majorly wrong (maybe the Twins can tweak him) I also don’t like that the depth is just SWR (only guy on the 40 man if I’m recalling correctly). Ohl is probably an option at some point this year. I’ll jump on the Festa bandwagon if he can get his BB% in the 6-8% range.
  6. 83. I like the rotation significantly less than last year. I don’t want Varland or Desclafani in the rotation. If they add another Lopez/Gray type then I will think upper 80s I like the offense, but still think they need CF insurance
  7. I would say no. I don’t necessarily think the Twins overvalue Kepler either. I think they just see the reality. If Lewis isn’t going to be an OF, they really don’t have an excess amount of OF’s. they still need a CF backup right now and getting rid of Kepler means they’d have to find a starter and a backup unless they’re going to give it to Martin. I also don’t believe that adding Kepler would have netted one of the young M’s pitchers. I only think the inclusion of one of Jenkins, Lee or Julien may do that.
  8. I don’t think you and Mike were ever disagreeing. Everyone wants more than a utility player in every round, but the reality is that so many players fail to even make the majors so something is better than nothing.
  9. I lean keeping him because the OF depth is bad already and would be worse without him. That being said, if someone wants to way overpay then trade him.
  10. Plan like Buxton doesn’t exist. I want the Twins to spend most of their money on a SP, though I don’t think they will. Because I want the Twins to focus on pitching, my first choice is Lewis, but sounds like the team may not go that way. My second choice is Martin, then Kiermaier, then Taylor. I don’t think they’ll do Bellinger either, so that’s why I didn’t mention him. Kiermaier or Martin are basically 1a/1b options for me…I don’t strongly prefer one over the other.
  11. In 2022 I started to have the belief that he should be converted to a reliever. I haven’t stopped thinking it since. I’m completely fine if he proves me wrong.
  12. Wishlist: Bellinger and Ohtani nobody said it had to be realistic, but that’s what I wish for
  13. If you’re saying the only way to win a WS is to suck for a long time then I say WS. if you’re saying being competitive has a chance to win one or more WS, then I say that.
  14. Too early. Too much injury history.
  15. I’d offer 2/26 and hope he takes it. He’s usually steady and I like that. No one in AAA has done anything to impress me. Varland was good in AAA last year, but wasn’t good in MLB. This year he’s not good at either. He’s trending towards a BP arm for me.
  16. You may have jinxed him into a lesser contract which would put the Twins more in the mix, though I don’t think it’d ever happen either way.
  17. Haven’t seen anything official. My only guess is they were easing him in to pro ball. He’s the starting CF tonight
  18. I’d rather Keirsey or Martin be the starting CF instead of MAT and his .260s OBP.
  19. He’s only said that he prefers the dirt, not that he won’t play OF. https://www.mlb.com/news/carlos-correa-eyes-future-with-royce-lewis-brooks-lee Hayes also tweeted this in May
  20. I wanted the Twins to add a RH OF and another reliever, like everyone else. The players available seemed pretty blah when I was looking at who was available or who might be. So am I disappointed they didn’t do more? Yes. Am I mad? No.
  21. https://theathletic.com/3990551/2022/12/15/twins-max-kepler-trade/ This is the only thing I can recall seeing, so seems like a FO/Rocco decision. He prefers RF, but it doesn’t say he refuses to play CF.
  22. I don’t recall reading anything where he “refuses,” but Gleeman said this in December https://theathletic.com/3990551/2022/12/15/twins-max-kepler-trade/
  23. 3/60 max. I hope the Twins just offer the QO, take it or leave it. He’s done well. It was a good trade, though I’m a Petty fanboy. His K% keeps dropping as the years go on, I don’t want the Twins to be stuck with him for years when it all fully falls apart
  24. Lee over Jenkins. Soto in the back half of the top 10
