  1. Is Sano to play in games or mostly work on the practice fields? I'd like to see a thread tracking his box scores...assuming this is a temporary move.
  2. Eh, pitchers go through hot/cold streaks. Not worried. (Though Molitor doesn't have to have him pitch 5 of every 7 days in tight situations as he works through it.)
  3. If Petit isn't playing anyway, I wonder why they don't call up a one-dimensional but useful player to PH or PR. I guess that would mean Vargas, or pick up a has-been off waivers who might be able to PH late in a game.
  4. Except, of course, that their opening day lineup (sans suspension) was basically homegrown. Mauer Dozier Polanco Sano Kepler Buxton Rosario That's every defensive position except the one who Garver backs up.
  5. A: They've played a lot of day games.
  6. All the STL press talked about with Lynn was that he's "a personality." Hopefully we get to see some of that soon, instead of talking about all his bad outings.
  7. Romero was already on the clock (40 Man Roster).
  8. This reminds me of the bilateral leg weakness coverage again. A technically accurate description of an injury, but also one that warrants some overanalysis.
  9. Clearly they just need to reacquire the leadership of Chris Giminez. I'm honestly not sure if this is a joke or a serious post.
  10. 7 RBI for Wilson seems pretty solid, considering he hits 90th and has like 50 AB. He's not a good hitter, but does this mean he's doing okay with RISP?
  11. I'm usually baffled by Molitor's bullpen use, but in my non-scientific observation, Pressly is far more effective as a one-and-done pitcher. When he pitches multiple innings it seems like he falls apart.
  12. Not a chance. I'd half listen if they threw is some prospects. Can't miss prospects usually miss: D'Arnaud, Swihart, Schwarber...no thank you.
  13. Too bad they can't get their comp pick back if they cut him. I wonder if anyone would risk trading a 3rd rounder for Lynn as a reclamation project. The Twins would break even. Also, they'd be a .500+ team without the games Lynn has started.
  14. I doubt they put him under for surgery below the waist. They usually just put up a screen during any surgery. Based on the Press article, I got the impression they asked him about it as it happened.
  15. A part of me wonders if they'll cut Lynn before Hughes, due to the 1 year contract.
  16. But what happens if you don't have any relievers that haven't gotten much work lately? What happens when they're all being used, such as 2 weeks ago after the Puerto Rico games? Then they're stuck making changes to the 40-man roster based on immediate necessity, which usually means journeymen. You have the right to disagree, of course, but I do think a mop-up pitcher is a vital role. Don't waste your core reliever arms on meaningless innings. They can get extra work in the bullpen. Anything can happen in a live game (e.g.: injury).
  17. While I think Hughes is likely cooked, I don't think a mop-up reliever whose has the stamina for 3+ innings is a wasted roster spot. We saw what happens during the post-Puerto Rico stretch when you don't have that guy on your roster: musical chairs. Hughes isn't pitching now because the Twins are playing close, good games. His role is for blowouts. Blowouts happen to every team, contending or not. If they happen 2 days in a row and you don't have a Hughes-type it causes problems.
  18. I'd rather have the injuries now and over with before the All Star Break than during the stretch run. Let's hope everyone is healthy and on a roll by July. Few players play 140+ games/year these days. Let's get the injuries out of the way early. \optimism
  19. I "watch" more Gameday than real live feeds sadly, but it seems that Rodney throws like 80% of his pitches for strikes every time he's out there.
  20. I haven't seen Morrison much, but from what I've read he's a below average 1B, right? It's hard to complain about losing a 1-0 game with zero earned runs scored. These things happen. Though I'd rather see hits, of course.
  21. That doesn't mean he listens to them. He still holds rank (and, to add to the intrigue, it's possible those coaches were hired by the front office).
  22. Both catchers with big at bats? Gardy would definitely start 'em both today.
  23. Should've kept LaMarre up too. Since he's also the mop-up pitcher it makes sense.
  24. Unless he bunts it off his foot. Didn't a previous article say he's not fully healed? I hope it doesn't mean he can't run at full speed.
