  1. Lol - I meant next year they'll lose 106. And true - if your family is safe in Canada why move them now
  2. You can't just sign guys, they have to agree. No one jumps on board with a 106 loss team to likely have to move their family mid-season.
  3. Amen to that. The broadcast booth has really been a sadistic torture chamber for 5 of the last 6 years.
  4. After watching playoffs thus far its a reminder how critical pitching is and how far away our collection of arms are. The Giants have Conor Gillespie at 3rd. Plug and play accordingly after you figure out pitching.
  5. I'm not sure how you evaluate anyone - bullpen is overworked, everyone tries to play through injuries, young prospects come up and get bad advice from multiple directions, Total System Failure continues. Everyone must go. No one's safe players or coaches or HOF managers. I still think Paul sounds like a smart baseball man, but managing a bunch of 24 year olds is a different task.
  6. Maybe the GM realizes that the current major league staff & crew are only capable of screwing these guys up so he's just getting them out of a toxic situation with toxic coaching.
  7. Who is a successful MLB bullpen guy (currently or in the past) that is comparable to Duffey (91 mph fastball / big curve)?
  8. 6 quality starts for Gibson. .296 baa. Joe Mays.
  9. The other day on TV I think they were talking about how Gibson's release point was drifting by 4-5 inches and I kind of wondered where the pitching coach was on that one as well.
  10. Trevor May bullpen vs. starting is catching up to Joe Mauer as far as posts on this site.
  11. Do all Twins pitchers try to pitch through their injuries so that they have a ready made excuse for when they are exposed? I thought this injury/training staff situation was going to be straightened out when TR came back.
  12. I think Miami or Texas are the only logical teams to consider it. Miami because he lives there or something and he can team with Bonds and they can update each other on current untraceable juices. Texas because he played there once and Fielder retired I guess and I think he would really annoy Adrian Beltre.
  13. In the bullpen he's gone 'max effort' to increase his fastball from 93 to occasionally 97. I could see that being a cause.
  14. I think this is more of an issue if we don't have options. Let Rosario, Kepler and Grossman play until they stop hitting. Maybe try Polanco in left for a few games. Let some competition drive some development.
  15. Should be fun to watch Nunez in October. Good for him and good return.
  16. I guess I agree, get what you can get for veterans like Abad and Kintzler, but let the next guy evaluate guys like Gibson, Dozier, and anyone young and controllable.
  17. I love this post - but seriously wouldn't Malone or Nolasco to an extent slide nicely into an NL rotation? RA should be on the phones all day selling this point.
  18. Oh no one disagrees - the whole point of this thread is why the Minnesota Twins and Rob Antony have kept Tom Milone and Rick Nolasco in the rotation and Jose Berrios is in AAA. Insane to get value back? Yes. We'll see what happens in the next 5 days.
  19. Absolutely trying to build trade value on Nolasco and Millone...probably should've figured a way to avoid throwing them against Boston. Should have called up Berrios and had Tommy face a bad Atlanta team.
  20. I think it's partially a contingency for when someone Bartman's a foul ball and they need a couple strikeouts to get out of an inning. Hard to blame them...
  21. To me it's the visits to the mound - the catcher visits especially. Call it the Jorge Posada rule. He'd jog out to the mound every time a pitcher got to 2 strikes to call the next pitch. Count it as one of the 'visits' to the mound.
  22. Yeah Nick but Ryan signed the Santana and Nolasco contracts -- TR: 'Hi Jim, want to take a 50 million dollar bath? We could get a couple mid level prospects if you do. Well, 1 mid-level, one very low level, but mid-very low. Oh and we should fire Paul because he put Sano back at 3rd and reduced Robbie Grossman's playing time and can't manage a bullpen I didn't improve.'
  23. I'm excited to read the Robbie Grossman chapter
  24. I'm sure decrease in revenue will prompt reduction in payroll. I think that's just a business perspective. Santana won't make any more difference next year than he did this year.
  25. Wasn't there an MLBTradeRumor about wanting to dump most of Santana's contract? That seems like more of an ownership directive
