  1. I don't think the Blackmon deal was too bad except that the last 2 years were player options. If they were team options or vesting options I'd go for something similar for Dozier
  2. So we ended up not seeing the Rule 5 guy right?
  3. They've really only hit a couple balls hard...
  4. I agree with Jaleel - Twins can top Indians. Indians' pitching is stellar but I'm not crazy about their offensive depth after Lindor and Ramirez. 93-69 Division crown Offensive player: Byron Buxton Most home runs: Eddie Rosario Starting pitcher: Lance Lynn Relief Pitcher: Addison Reed Twins rookie: Stephen Gonzales. I love the breadth of plausibility on all of these predictions!
  5. I thought the screws would be tightened down on this topic after Ervin PLUS the new front office regime.
  6. Is there a chance that to honor Gardy's re-entrance to the Central that we carry 3 catchers? Castro, Garver, who's the other - Bobby Wilson?
  7. I'm guessing he'll be offered a 3 year contract by the Twins but Dozier will be looking for 5 or 6 years. I doubt he'll find it but will be turned off by the Twins' offer and will go elsewhere. Then he'll come back 7 years later and we'll make a Brian Dozier video compilation set to the 'I'm coming home' song to be played at his first game.
  8. Kemp has 'lost a bunch of weight and matured' so I'm sure LA will see what they have now since they'll be paying him anyway.
  9. Adrianza has hardly established himself nor should be guaranteed anything. I think he's just fine and should beat out an aging veteran but there's no harm in competition
  10. The only way this makes any sense is if it is a reaction to Phil Hughes bullpen, and it went poorly or he feels far away yet, or he was going to hang it up. This is not risk free if Sanchez is competent in Spring Training against everyone else's backups and reverts to normal at season start and is given 5 starts to work through it.
  11. I think either pitcher would be a nice addition, however I think our front office thinks of themselves as 'value' guys who were hired to spend money wisely. I don't know if that's realistic in order to bring above average starting pitching in the door. To me, you have to take a risk and overspend if you want a guy you'd feel confident in putting on the mound for a wild card play in against the Yankees. Right now we have an 'Ace' who turned into a crumbling pumpkin in the play-in game. Arrieta has had pretty good postseason numbers the last 2 years, including dominating the Indians in the World Series. I'd role the dice with him but its not my 150 million.
  12. March 20th - after announcing that Matt Bush and Bartolo Colon will make the rotation, Texas Rangers trade Martin Perez of the 115 strikeouts in 185 innings fame to the Minnesota Twins for Alan Busenitz.
  13. With the pitching Tampa has, I think they're a bat or two away from sporting a really nice team. I think they should resign Logan Morrison and add a Jose Bautista and give it a run. If things tank, trade Archer next year.
  14. Tampa will get almost as much in archer's walk year. It's not happening, yet.
  15. Depth remains a big concern. If Berrios turns his ankle and Gibson has a sore back we're calling Mejia our number one. Hyperbole, but stuff happens all the time where we start throwing anything against the wall like 'hey maybe Tyler Differ figured something out'. Real contenders don't walk such a fine line between contention and mediocrity.
  16. I've thought the same thing regarding the Angels - Yu is waiting for the Dodgers to figure something out, but the Angels are also near LA. I'm not sure if he has any relationship with Ohtani, but that could be a benefit to have a fellow countryman. And Angels need pitching like everyone. Trout in CF would be nice too, Simmons at SS.
  17. I can't believe how many free agents are still unsigned! Besides looking at starters I say start throwing some 1 year offers towards the Greg Hollands and Mike Moustakases of the world
  18. Let's bring him in for a meeting during NFC championship week -- he can blow the big horn at the beginning of the game
  19. I doubt that this will be the last story of this kind about a professional athlete - definitely sad. I guess the context of the situation is hopefully part of being an immature 22 year old with an entitled taste of success and can be held fully accountable by his team and the league. Suspend him, hope he learns. Hope he works hard to rebuild his reputation.
  20. Is that what that is supposed to be? This signing's okay, at least he won't be pitching against us - he seems to befuddle some of our younger guys. Like most - hopefully this isn't all we do there's plenty of offseason left
