  1. I think the Dozier 3 Plouffe 4 is a directive from TR to make sure they are in a position to get the token RBI groundouts to build their trade value
  2. Yes I'm waiting for Hughes' 'shoulder strain' to be announced any day
  3. I enjoy this report. I think a lot of the unsuccessful outings were critical and led directly to losses - May's spiked curveballs and Pressly's home run stand out to me beside Jepsen.
  4. Maybe we're going to trade for another catcher. AJ? How low can JRM's batting avg get?
  5. Actually Milone might be a good bullpen addition given his BAA disparity on 1st time through lineup against 2nd/3rd times
  6. Is it plausible that some of Sano's troubles at the plate are related to learning a new position in the field? I think we heard that when Mauer was learning first?
  7. Striking out on 3 94 mph fastballs was concerning to me. They were a little up in the zone but over the plate
  8. I thought it was a miracle Duensing wasn't brought back...
  9. If Liam Hendricks can go elsewhere and start throwing 95, could Tonkin go elsewhere and throw 102?
  10. I think there might be something with the vision - he often looked bewildered by umpires' calls last year. But even though he can see better, I'm not sure he can drive the ball with authority any different. I expect numbers similar to last year on BABIP, maybe less strikeouts/more walks so overall improvement.
  11. I would very much doubt that TR would allow a 12 million dollar pitcher pout in the bullpen. Duffey will start in AAA. And we love showing off our reclamation projects, so Kintzler will be on the team. I'm fine for both options, for April, as long as they pull the trigger faster than they did for Stauffer.
  12. Isn't this good because it might mean Berrios will be one of the next rotation options when someone is needed?
  13. I get that this is a low risk scenario - but is Quentin 'in great shape'? His knees are fully rested and he's mashing the ball in Mexico? Or he's not sure if he can still play and Spring Training will be his test.
  14. It would be nice to have more depth across the board - injuries will happen
  15. Ortiz's spot is currently reserved by Kennys Vargas
  16. Maybe we should just talk up prospects in case san diego GM guys is reading this
  17. Per mlbtraderumors we're more in the Craig Breslow market than Craig Kimbrel
  18. If you're dealing with the Padres would it be worth trying to get Justin Upton? We still need offense too, he's only a rental obviously...
  19. Brewers are glad to take our outfielders we've given up too early on...
  20. It didn't seem like the Tigers gave up a ton for David Price last year - see what's available for the right, um, price
  21. Someone will come out of the rotation - May might be the best candidate, maybe can get his fastball up to 96 or so regularly when only throwing an inning at a time. Other suggestions?
  22. And we should be adding May to the Pen soon when Ervin returns(?)
  23. There's another part to this Mauer tale, which is the improvement of the AL Central, especially the Kansas City Royals. Mauer destroyed the Royals when they were the AL Central bottom feeders, and padded the heck out of his stats. I'm sure most great players have done this against the poorest teams, but check the stats. I think he slugged over 1.000 annually against the Royals; now the Royals are better as is pitching across the board.
