    Could Marwin get some SS time? I see he has .774 OPS vs LHP. Not necessarily advocating a platoon, but an option besides Adrianza.

    The Royals don't seem to know they're supposed to roll over for us like they do for Cleveland.

    I think it's time to start a 'stacking' method of planning to use Thorpe, Smeltzer, etc for 3 after Odorizzi or Gibson or Perez give you 4 or 5 good innings, or twice through the lineup. I anticipated this would be needed before the season but Odorizzi and Perez started off really great. That will have to be a playoff strategy as well, why wait to implement.

    Berrios 80 pitches, Pineda 80 pitches both pulled. Especially given the nature of Gibby and Odo to get to 80 pitches by inning 4 get everything you can from starters if they can go 8 or 9 on occasion.

    I loved how the Dbacks got that Marlin kid who shut us down last night. It might have been a John Ryan Murphy move but I thought he'd be a good get. But i didn't think the Marlins wouldn't be trading away a promising young starter. I guess it wouldn't have hurt to ask we probably could have got him for Gordon based on the return.

    I always enjoy the hope of 'last second deals that were made but haven't been reported'. Its a nice 15 minutes.

    It depends on what their goal is. Maybe they'll be happy just making the playoffs. Thad and Derek weren't here for the Gardy years.

    I think this is so very true and is why Ray nor Minor nor Thor will be traded. If you're around 50 wins now you think you're not that far away and can make that jump in the offseason. Mike Leake will be traded but no thanks. Tanner Roark seems to be about the same as what we have. The opportunity to me lies in bullpen pieces - Ian Kennedy, maybe you can pry a Jake McGee or Wade Davis from Colorado, though I have no idea if Davis has anything left.

    Replaces what parker was earlier in the year. A 2 or 3 run lead bullpen option.

    I'd rather have competent playoff starters than prospects. If it doesn't work for this and next year you can trade off some younger developed vets mid 2020 for the next rebuild.

    Totally agree with the sentiment of not wanting Gibby anywhere near a playoff game. Hopefully he's just out of his routine and he can regain some normalcy as a solid #4.

    I love the Schoop observation - he's outstanding at turning double plays. Along the same line - Marwin's arm has come up big in the outfield and at third. Although it caught up with the team as everyone has been hurt lately - starting the season relatively injury free for 2+ months was a big surprise to me and helped the team gel and get off to a big lead on Cleveland

    How about one of Wander Javier, Jhoan Duran, OR Brent Rooker for Smith? Still seems high but might be what is needed.
