    Aren't the majority of our starters 'flyball pitchers' anyway, save for 'Gibby'? Does that make shortstop defense more or less critical? (SS gets less chances/more important to convert them?)

    Scott Stahoviak seems to get a bad rap. His 1996 line resulted in an .845 OPS(!) 30 doubles, 13 homeruns. Tell me we wouldn't love that from our First Baseman.

    You can't just sign guys, they have to agree. No one jumps on board with a 106 loss team to likely have to move their family mid-season.

    After watching playoffs thus far its a reminder how critical pitching is and how far away our collection of arms are. The Giants have Conor Gillespie at 3rd. Plug and play accordingly after you figure out pitching.

    I think Miami or Texas are the only logical teams to consider it. Miami because he lives there or something and he can team with Bonds and they can update each other on current untraceable juices. Texas because he played there once and Fielder retired I guess and I think he would really annoy Adrian Beltre.

    I think this is more of an issue if we don't have options. Let Rosario, Kepler and Grossman play until they stop hitting. Maybe try Polanco in left for a few games. Let some competition drive some development.

    I'm sure decrease in revenue will prompt reduction in payroll. I think that's just a business perspective. Santana won't make any more difference next year than he did this year.

    I think a GM has to stand behind his plan, which in this case was rebuilding/developing talent. But also hold your staff accountable at all levels for production and be able to improvise when results aren't happening. Multiple years we've heard of the fantastic MN farm system, yet all there seems to be is raw talent of Buxtons and Rosarios and Berrios, etc. Many have come up the the majors only to seem over-matched and un-prepared. If there is such dependency on the young talent, with a sprinkling of Plouffes and Suzukis, then the GM should have a plan for development of key pieces and contingencies upon their likelihood of talent advancement.

    I agree with the sentiment, but when have we ever taken a failed staring pitcher and made something out of him by tweaking his delivery or teaching him a new pitch? That one time with Carl Pavano? The year when Phil Hughes was magically throwing 94? I say don't trade anyone if it's the same guy making the trades.
