I see opposing pitching pounding low and away. Occasionally then going in or up tying up the hitters. Hendricks was diligent. No one can hit a ball the other way, no adjustments.

It would add to the level of gut punch that the battered broken Yankee team limps into the playoffs but finds renewed vigor against our twins.

Enough with the bullpen games at least in using up Wisler.
  4. lukeduke1980
Aggressive moves would be quite counter to the Danny Coulombe and Ildemaro Vargas type moves that have been the responses to half the team being injured. I expect no moves.

I agree with the 5th starter sentiment. We've seen the bullpen games affect the games before and after. Find a guy. Even outside the organization.

Schoop is a good fit. It wouldn't hurt Arraez to platoon for 30 more games.

I had wondered about Kevin Pillar during the offseason, for CF depth. He's playing pretty well for Boston and on a 1 year deal.

I assumed Maeda only went 5 because of his close to 120 pitches in his no hit bid. Glad to see Rogers get the save but thought he was still in the zone too much, thought May would've gotten the 9th instead of Rogers back to back. Really liked Thielbar's inning.

Rogers' looping breaking stuff is breaking into the zone. His fastballs are getting hit, the new kid Vargas, who later won some respect battling Hader, didn't turn a DP as Marwin tried to stretch instead of trying to catch the bad throw.

At the top of Minnesota Sports Lore is Kirby Puckett's legacy of being a 5' 8" underdog who didn't look like a ballplayer but hit his way to Cooperstown.
  11. lukeduke1980
I think they also affect the bullpen usage of the prior games as well
  12. lukeduke1980
    It's Cardinals, not Tigers

Their all fine but after hearing each one for hundreds of games the commentary becomes stale. Hawkins has been refreshing, Morneau has improved. I hope we still get Jim Kaat for some games in the next couple years.

A different thought, and players can get hurt in any position, but should Buxton be shifted to a corner to reduce the opportunities for the kamikaze?

I'm not solely blaming one side nor Manfred solely, but to me it's another piece of Manfred's legacy that I'm not impressed with, along with the cheating scandals, the minor league's contraction, the rabbit ball home run binge.

This was the season of Bilateral Leg Weakness
  17. lukeduke1980
I had a similar thought, each team puts together essentially a minor league roster to form one team. These players need to be developed, money should be less complicated. I'd still watch it.

Nothing infuriates me more than the parrot

I agree, I'm not a huge fan of DH, but I have loved watching Chili Davis, Thome, Cruz, Molitor. I would dump DH for all interleague competition and WS because I think it's a competitive advantage - DH for those NL teams is their 9th best hitter.

It's possible that Falvey finally came across the Austidillo center field highlight reel
  21. lukeduke1980
    I just wonder if it's fire/cleanup related.
  22. lukeduke1980
    He's from Australia, right?
  23. lukeduke1980
It won't help when the first suspension is given to a pitcher who throws at an Astro
  24. lukeduke1980
It wasn't a great pitch, location-wise at least. Was it a change up?
  25. lukeduke1980
Same - I was hoping for one more bullpen option, especially seeing Rogers' vulnerability in back to back days. Hopefully May or Duffy continue to pitch well and end up being 9th inning options.
