What is the future of the starting pitcher in baseball? If its guys who go through the lineup only twice, Berrios is in theory more replaceable and Buxton would be the priority to sign.
You're up big just go in there and throw the ball over the plate. Dobnak did that and got hit a little. More concerning would've been 5 walks and going deeper into pen
I think if a high percentage of a players' hit balls are into the air, there's a smaller percentage of those balls in play that will contribute to regression of the BABIP. I think that's Keplers's case as he's a launch angle guy who pops up a lot too.
I agree with the sentiment that these young players bet on themselves, and I thought Sano would but I think he signed 3/30. I think Buxton is pretty similar in risk, higher reward. I agree with those saying 4 or 5 for 50-60.
I rarely sit down and watch 9 innings, more or less have the game on in the background and listen for highlights, so switching to the radio won't be huge transition.
If Sano is retained through this offseason, it's hopefully because there is a plan to get him to cut down on Ks. Otherwise I could have imagined him being non-tendered above the others.
How teams address their payrolls this offseason is a huge unknown. The Twins could jettison Miguel's 10 or so million to help their budget; if a Milwaukee or someone was going to make a minimal move, adding Sano to hit behind Yelich would be splashy and not really that costly.
I agree with Linus' sentiment about OBP, but it seems like there were baserunners at times but then the inability to do anything. We need some hitters who are able to adjust and drive the ball to the opposite field. I won't say Tom Kelly was right the bomba ability looming for any mistake pitch is important but to me the team was impotent when the bombas didn't happen.
As the season developed this year I noticed pitchers really avoiding the hot zones of our various bomba boys. Is the launch angle approach too vulnerable to hitters looking for pitches only in their hot zones, leaving them flummoxed and panicky when a team successfully game plans to pitch around their zones? Can a new hitting coach fix this approach on a Kepler?
Thielbar continues to get people out. I don't assume anything about him being on the post season roster, but he'll have an MLB job next year. Great story.
I see opposing pitching pounding low and away. Occasionally then going in or up tying up the hitters. Hendricks was diligent. No one can hit a ball the other way, no adjustments.
Aggressive moves would be quite counter to the Danny Coulombe and Ildemaro Vargas type moves that have been the responses to half the team being injured. I expect no moves.
