    I've been watching Dozier's box scores and he's been having his typical ice cold start. Hopefully the home run gets him going.

    The next play at the wall will tell me more, it's almost like he'd been waiting all off season anticipating this first play, and wanted to test out how his added 20 lbs would help him. And all of those thoughts converging in a matter of seconds as he tracked the ball into the wall and he ended up with his awkward aggressive/reckless play.

    Buxton seems to be getting back into the pattern where he's almost instantly at 0-2 counts. Hopefully he gets a couple days off and comes back with an aggressive approach.

    This looks for the Indians to be a microcosm of the upcoming season - good starting pitching but where does the offense come from? Kudos to Berrios for realizing the lineup he was facing and being aggressive.

    The bullpen has been akin to the Vikings' O Line. Failed the eye test of the uneducated viewer but ignored by the brilliant front office. Now I'm sure by May Romero will be straightened out and back up, but it feels like a couple of early 12 inning games and an injury will really expose the lack of effective depth.

    Lindor's injury will affect how they start out - it's a pretty shallow lineup without him. If they can stay around .500 for when he comes back I expect they'll go on a run.

    He's essentially Esco. Hopefully he's as good in the clubhouse.

    I hope Odorizzi figures something out. He looked frustrated and confused during each of his painful 5 inning/100 pitch outings last year.

    I like Polanco as a hitter. I am surprised however that the first contract extension signed by this administration would be to the player who was suspended for PEDs. That's not to say they haven't been trying to reach one with Rosario, Berrios, etc. It just feels a little off.

    Especially close losses. Was it 12 walk off losses? Add talent to the bullpen and maybe some of those games are extended and the Cruz led offense can turn 8 of those into wins.

    I imagine the players and their agents are still asking for the moon, otherwise I think a lot of teams, if not most teams, would be all in on Keuchel/Kimbrall for 1 - 3 year deals

    I think this might be part of it, though I also suspect they had 3 million left in the budget and saw more value in a Martin Perez rebound than a Zach Duke type 3 million dollar relief pitcher

    The guy doesn't strike people out. It seems so counter to our pitching revolution. Aaron Slegers could be a number 5 starter. This would be so less annoying if it was a spring training invite. But it's a top down directive that this guy will work out because we'll use the 'opener' and then squeeze 5 Perez innings out against the Royals. Aren't we clever.

    This is really the crux of all issues to me. Though it's also a nice built in excuse. If you bring in talent you'll find at bats for those who deserve them. The continued inaction on improving the bullpen to me is a lost opportunity. You have a potentially young competitive team that lost so many close games last year, with virtually no contributions from Buxton/Sano. It seems like the WS Royals team's core almost rose to the height of their strong bullpen. Why couldn't that happen here.

    Did Curtis have a low spin rate, or some peripheral stats/attributes that might have give the FO the impression that his ceiling probably wasn't much higher than AAA?

    He gave up 11 home runs last year. I can't take any more walk off losses than endured last year.
