Greatest Twins Teams of All Time: 1970
David HK replied to Matt Braun's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
My very first live Twins game- actually 2- Aug. 9th double header. My family journeyed from Bismarck to visit our old neighbors in the Cities, and they treated us to the double-dip! Swept by the Swingin' A's that day, to dip to a mere 29 games above .500. 😅 Pat Dobson outdueled 19-yr-old Bert in game 1, and ex-Twin Don Mincher cracked a couple of taters off Kaat to win the second. I don't know, that program might still be in a storage box somewhere. I remember keeping score, and going over the whole thing again and again in those younger days. It was a beautiful summer afternoon, with evening shadows starting to lengthen in the old Met as the game wound down. Just a magical day at the ballpark. That truly was an outstanding, powerful team, one for the ages. I do think it was maybe the best Twinks team ever. I also remember how much it burned to get swept by the hated O's AGAIN, and how every Orioles baseball card my friends and I had wound up between the spokes of our bikes. Thanks for posting this! It was a great jog down memory lane!- 20 replies

Hey, I see Garv-sauce is available! 😅

Likewise! I wonder where my photos of that night might be.... I went to maybe 25-30 games that year, but of course was priced out of the playoffs. But working at the U of M, so watched that clincher at Stub and Herb's in Dinkytown! And that Darryl Evans pickoff! That play with Correa and Sonny reminded me of it today! It was truly magical. Let's keep it going, boys!

It would have been sweet to get a sweep. But we really smacked the Rangers around in the space of only 2 weeks- that's not easy to do against a quality hitting club. Now, let's go into Cleveland and BURY those guys. This time, I won't be satisfied with anything less than total annihilation. 💪😆

The Paddack idea is intriguing. And I'd be fine shuffling Maeda to the pen. He probably wouldn't, though...

Can he hit 3rd starting next week? Surely can't do any worse than what we have.

Welp, 3 games, 3 runs. Sounds about right. Sadly. I was excited this summer for perhaps a side trip to the Cities while I'm back in the US. Never seen Target Field. But wow, I guess I'd just spend the time slurping down the Summit.

T-Ball Tee Notches First Big League Victory Over Twins
David HK commented on RandBalls Stu's article in Just For Fun
They've got no chance against Rex. Although he's been rumored to have something like a spitter... 🐶 -
So much great research in this article- well done, Cody! The fact that really surprised me, though-- the Twins have a hitting coach? 🤔

Bux has looked so completely lost at the plate lately, so at least he made contact... ta dum, tss! But seriously folks, Twins are near the top of the majors in getting hit this year, and one of our stars got drilled in the ribs, maybe putting him out for a while. I have no idea why Arias leading off the next inning wasn't wearing the very first pitch in his a**. Come on, pitchers, stick up for your boys! 😠

Giants 4, Twins 3: As Bad As It Gets?
David HK replied to Steven Trefz's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
FFS, is Rocco wearing his pyjamas in the top photo? No wonder they lost, he must have been asleep. Jeepers, guy, you're in a Major League dugout. Maybe dress the part instead of looking like a slob who just got off his couch. -
Giants 4, Twins 3: As Bad As It Gets?
David HK replied to Steven Trefz's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Aye. And I might add, aye yai yai.... Well, it seems the Twinks have established a similar pattern to the Vikings 1-2-3-kick: starter pitches his guts out, guys fail to hit and back him up, bullpen comes in and blows it. The end. We still might stagger to the Central title by default, for the usual one-and-done playoff experience. (Again, Viking-like.) It's the bad team mantra, of choosing one guy to suck each night, and which hitter or hitters are going to make a mockery of their $$$ contracts. (*cough* Correa* cough*) Over here on this side of the globe, I'm thankful that it's exam time at school and lots to do, and I don't have to worry about following any Twins games that come on around 7 or 8 AM. I can just check the bad news later. -

JfC, this offense is beyond pathetic. And Miranda is making me miss Sano. Come back, Joe Vavra, wherever you are. All is forgiven!

Big props to Big Joe. 7 strong! And there's my new favorite Twin, Sonny Gray, going over stuff in an intense conversation with Joe after he came out of the game. Polanco again lifting the Twinks to another level with his play on both sides of the ball. He came back at just the right time!

Twins 6, Yankees 1: Gray Freezes Yankees Lineup
David HK replied to Theodore Tollefson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Sonny Gray is a bulldog. A stone-cold killer. I love that guy, how he battles. Moran is no Mystery to anyone right now. Thanks, dude, for forcing our closer to get up and get warm on a frigid night. He might be gassed for tomorrow now. And thank God Polanco came back with his hitting shoes on. The rest of this lineup needs some serious coffee or something. They gotta wake up, but quick.- 79 replies

Nice job, Twins. You managed to squeak one out against the KC Royals of the NL. Bailey Ober showing he belongs, and maybe Jorge can shame the Polar Vortex of Buxton, Correa, and Miranda into bringing an actual bat to the plate instead of a loaf of French bread.
