  1. milb.com says he's been hitting .256 for the past 15 days. Great to see.
  2. From the far distant Northeast (Maine), it is my understanding that there is an almost zero chance that either Berrios or Buxton sign any extension. If that is accurate, now is the time to try to trade them. Every day closer to free agency reduces their trade value. Beyond that, anyone "earning" over $1M a year should be available via trade if the return is acceptable.
  3. A big Twins rally in the 7th? A walk, a HBO, and another walk. That's a comeback rally???
  4. That would be two feet further back from the current 60 feet 6 inches.
  5. It would be nice if Sano could get his average up to .220 and strikeouts down to 40%.
  6. Anyone know when Balazovic might return from IL?
  7. If anyone cares to read the original argument of this thread, it says that the Twins have attempted over the past two years to get Berries and Buxton to sign extensions and have been turned down by the players and agents. The players are heading to free agency. If this assumption is true then the Twins really have no choice but to trade them this year at or before the trade deadline. Losing both after 2022 with nothing in return would be a disaster. In my opinion, the trades would return far more this year (with one and a half years of control and time to work on extensions) than next year. So it comes back around to the original comment of give the players until the end of June to sign extensions or ship them out for the best packages.
  8. Is that something new? Why can't a player be called up from any level if they are ready?
  9. Both the Saints and the Surge hitters look ready to join the Twins - a combined 2 for 14 RISP.
  10. The guys on MLB radio had an interesting take on the 3-0 home run. They said that if the Twins want to use a meatball pitcher to mop up the game and the count goes to 3-0, if you don't want the batter to hit the snot out of the next pitch, signal the ump that you want to walk the batter.
  11. On the bright side, yesterday the Wild beat Las Vegas in OT. That's one more playoff win than the Twins have in the last 20 years.
  12. Thanks. I guess only a local would know that.
  13. I think Matt forgot last year was cancelled. ?
  14. Question?? In Matt Henderson's tweet, he wonders how long Miranda will be in ICT. What is ICT?
  15. Sabato was drafted because his style of hitting is similar to Sano. Right now, Sabato is working on striking out more than 50% of the time. Once he has that mastered, he is going to work on the occasional home run.
  16. On a more positive note, Kirill Kaprisov got two more goals last night.
  17. I am thrilled that the minor leagues are playing and that this column will be available every morning for me to read. I missed it all last year - may last year rest in peace and never repeated.
  18. Being isolated in Maine, I don't get many opportunities to watch Twins games. Last night was an exception. Rortvedt looked good behind the plate and held his own batting. Buxton was phenomenal. And Kirilloff hit the ball hard in each at bat. The first at bat was a home run anywhere in the park except straight away center. And his last at bat was a line drive out to the second baseman who was playing about 160 feet from home plate. Very impressive at bats. And then the Twins successfully execute a hit-and-run. When's the last time that was done? And the bullpen looked great. Maybe I'm a good luck charm?
  19. Dr. Evil - I guess AZTwin couldn't come up with an example.
  20. Last Thursday was my first day back playing hockey and after my first shift, my knee hurt just as bad as when I hurt it 21 months ago. But I'm going to give it another go on Tuesday. It can't get any worse, can it?
  21. Donaldson has a history of calf problems. This was a hamstring. Different body part and no correlation between the two. Injuries happen no matter how well conditioned you are. Two summers ago, in my first at bat of the season, I hit a slow roller towards third, took two steps and tore my miniscus in two places. Never had knee problems before. Stuff happens.
  22. While watching this game yesterday, after Maeda was taken out in the 5th, my senile, old mind thought "How about bringing in Dobnak to pitch the next two or three innings and save the bullpen?". It would have been similar to starting a game and Dobnak has been pretty good all spring. Oh well, 161-1 should get the Twins to post season.
  23. A record of 161-1 will probably still get the Twins into the playoffs????
  24. The Twins should have a very exciting season this year. But the one thing that I am really looking forward to is reading the daily minor league reports. Not having those in 2020 left a big hole in my daily routine. I think I'm looking forward to May 1st more than April 1st. And that's no joke!
  25. What in the world are you attempting to say? I can't figure this out!
