  1. Two former GMs were on MLB radio this morning discussing the trade deadline. Both agreed that, because the Nationals are now in the pennant race and Max Scherzer was not longer going to be traded, that Jose Berrios was now the number one target for any team needing starting pitching. They both agreed that the price for Berrios would be very high but that several teams in need (and maybe more if Trevor Bauer gets into legal problems) would be in the running for him. That is very promising for the Twins front office. If a couple others can be moved for decent returns, 2022 looks interesting and 2023 looks exciting.
  2. Can we finally talk about selling assets???
  3. Wow. Maybe a comp pick for giving away Berrios for nothing. Now I feel a lot better.
  4. "If the Twins don't think they can sign him" makes the deal far better than decent to good because the alternative is getting nothing, zero, bumpkis.
  5. One comment about Jax. He has pitched less than 300 innings since leaving college (fulfilling his military commitment and COVID). He is still learning. Don't give up on him yet.
  6. That is the most common comment of someone realizing that finance isn't their strong suit.
  7. If all those changes you list "must" happen to make you a happy fan, I think it would be far easier to pick another team to cheer for.
  8. So who's job is it to tell Buxton and Berrios that they have to sign an extension because the fan base mandates it?
  9. Julien's OBP of just over 50% is getting into slo-pitch softball territory. Time to move him up.
  10. Who is the breakout hitter in the minors this year? Jose Miranda, Jermaine Palacios, Spencer Steer, Wander Javier??? All are having great seasons. And what about Ernie de la Trinidad and Eduard Julien? I'm really excited to see a lot of infielders on this list because the past several years have been all about the outfield prospects. I actually think that things are looking good for 2022 and beyond. If the major league team just sheds a lot of dead weight, the team will be improved.
  11. Pitiless? Do you mean pitiful?
  12. A lot of posters seem to dismiss Rooker as a lost cause. But I would prefer him hitting .200, hitting 20 home runs, and making $600K than Sano hitting .180, hitting 35 home runs, and making $12M. The savings of $11.4M could be put to good use elsewhere.
  13. It will set them back further than waiting until they walk away and the Twins get nothing?
  14. If the front office can sign Berrios between now and July 20th - great. If they can't trade him now for the best offer. His trade value will only diminish after that. The same for Buxton.
  15. As someone that spent over 20 years in Texa, you can skip Amarillo.
  16. That sounds to me like it probably violates some unwritten rule and he should expect a fastball in the ribs in his next at bat.?????
  17. If Berrios and Buxton sign extensions, that would be great. But that's not what I hear from the "experts" on MLB radio. They are saying that both are committed to testing the free agency market. If that is true, the front office has to trade both of them in July.
  18. I think Shoemaker's appearance was the prelude to a DFA. Cue the cheerleading squad: He can't start! He can't finish! DFA! DFA! DFA! Go Twins
  19. Buxton reminds me of a kid the Minneapolis Millers had for a brief time in 1951. If I remember correctly, his name was Willie Mays.
  20. Well said Captain Obvious! If I lost 80 pounds, I wouldn't be fat. If Arraez were two feet taller, he could play for the Timberwolves.
  21. All you need to do is find a local businessman with a net worth with three commas (that's billions for those who are wondering), a passion for baseball, and a willingness to let others do all the "baseball stuff." There should be a bunch of them in the Twin Cities to pick from, right?
  22. Maybe you should play Strat-O-Matic Baseball. It's all about statistics and probability, but very little about real life.
  23. The Rays have only gotten 3 home runs from their first basemen. Package Cruz and Sano for some prospects (any prospects).
  24. A "strait" is a narrow body of water between two or more segments of land. Perhaps you meant "straight"???
